Introduction

Welcome to the WowCarry guide for Assault of the Zaqali fight in Aberrus on Normal and Heroic difficulty. In this encounter, your primary task is to protect the Door from waves of adds and eventually the boss, Kagni. Get ready to face various challenging mechanics as you progress through the two phases of this fight.

Phase One: Split the Raid

In phase one, Kagni jumps between two platforms, and adds spawn on both throughout this stage. Your raid should be split evenly to babysit each side. When the boss is with your group, he'll point a cone at the tank called Heavy Cudgel. Aim that away from your teammates to avoid unnecessary damage.

  • Heavy Cudgel and Cave Rubble

Heavy Cudgel stacks a debuff that'll expire on its own when Kagni leaves to flirt with the other tank. After the cone, Cave Rubble falls nearby. Players can click the rocks to pick them up and take them to the edge of the platform whenever the Wallclimber adds approach. Use your extra action button to drop the rock and smoke a few adds off the wall.

  • Handling the Adds

Throughout this phase, you'll be dealing with a variety of adds. Wallclimbers can mostly be picked off with rocks, but kill any extras that make it up and don't let them reach the wall. Magma Mystics are the most dangerous add, casting ramping raid damage with Molten Barrier and channeling interruptable Lava Bolts. DPS the shield off to make it stop and kick Lava Bolts. Huntsman adds target players with Flaming Spears, so move out a bit and watch for the explosion. Obsidian Guards deal minor raid damage.

Phase Two: Protect the Door

At 25% health, Kagni enters Phase Two. No more adds will spawn, but the boss heals up a bit and channels some raid damage. His frontal cone for the tank is now Flaming Cudgel. After it lands, the entire raid needs to spread with these circles. Continue to aim the cone away from innocent raiders and tank swap as needed.

  • Flaming Cudgel and Spreading Circles

During Phase Two, it's essential to keep aiming the Flaming Cudgel away from your fellow raiders. The spreading circles mechanic requires the raid to spread out, so make sure you're not accidentally causing unnecessary damage to your teammates.

  • Catastrophic Slam

At 100 Energy, Kagni performs a Catastrophic Slam, shockwaving towards the door. This frontal attack MUST be soaked by multiple players to split the damage and protect the door. Failure to do so will result in a wipe.

Heroic Difficulty Changes

On Heroic difficulty, the encounter becomes more challenging. If any adds hit the door, the consequences will be severe. Obsidian Guards gain Volcanic Shield , a line attack aimed at a marked player. Everyone else should sidestep out of the way to avoid damage. In Heroic Phase Two, soaking the frontal attack leaves a debuff on you. Split the raid into two soak groups and alternate who's taking the Catastrophic Slam to manage the debuff effectively.

Conclusion

That's our guide for the Assault of the Zaqali encounter in Aberrus on Normal and Heroic difficulty. With careful coordination, your raid should be able to handle the various mechanics and successfully protect the Door from waves of adds and the boss, Kagni. Good luck, and have a wonderful, wonderful day!
