Introduction to the Vigilant Steward Zskarn Fight

Hi! I’m Hazel from WowCarry, and today I'll guide you through the Vigilant Steward, Zskarn fight in Aberrus on Normal and Heroic difficulty. This encounter takes place in a pretty small arena, and the main challenge is running out of space. We'll go through all the key mechanics, such as Searing Claws, Dragonfire Traps, Golem adds, Shrapnel bombs, Blast Wave, and Tactical Destruction.

Managing Searing Claws and Dragonfire Traps

The boss applies a fire DoT called Searing Claws on the active tank, which stacks up. You can swap tanks at around 7 stacks, or whenever it’s convenient. Another mechanic to watch out for is the Dragonfire Traps printed on the floor. While harmless by default, Zskarn activates them during the fight, effectively blocking off parts of the room.

Handling Golem Adds and Deactivating Traps

Zskarn animates Golem adds that attempt to turn on more traps. Your task is to stun, slow, and kill these golems. Afterward, you can salvage their bodies for parts, which allows you to deactivate active traps. To do this, click a dead golem to get an extra action button, approach a trap, target it, and use your button to turn it off. Remember, you don't have to stand in the fiery part.

Dealing with Shrapnel Bombs

Throughout the fight, Zskarn will throw out Shrapnel bombs that are different from traps. These bombs explode for significant raid damage after 30 seconds if left unattended. To prevent this, the off tank or someone with immunity can walk into the bomb to bravely take a large amount of physical damage by themselves. Be cautious and use cooldowns, as it hurts a lot. Paladin BoPs and bubbles are beneficial since they can clean up multiple bombs.

Avoiding Blast Wave and Tactical Destruction

Blast Wave is an ability that deals damage and knocks the raid away from the boss. Try not to position your back towards anything dangerous. When Zskarn reaches full energy, it activates nearby dragon statues with Tactical Destruction. These statues glow for a few seconds before lighting up the ground in a wedge in front of them. The AoE is massive, and the damage will kill you, so stay away from the glowing dragons. The first round will activate one statue, the next two, and the third round will activate three. Escaping this mechanic is more manageable if you've been diligent with golems and deactivating traps.

Heroic Difficulty: Unstable Embers

On Heroic difficulty, Zskarn introduces a new mechanic called Unstable Embers. It marks several players with pulsing rings, requiring them to spread out. Additionally, Heroic mode prevents you from dispelling the DoT that active traps leave on you. However, this shouldn't be a problem, as nobody should walk through active traps – you've all promised, right?

Conclusion

And that's how you defeat the Vigilant Steward Zskarn in Aberrus on Normal and Heroic difficulty! By mastering the mechanics and following the strategies outlined in this guide, your raid team should be well-equipped to overcome this challenging encounter. Remember to manage the Searing Claws, Dragonfire Traps, Golem adds, Shrapnel bombs, Blast Wave, and Tactical Destruction effectively, and you'll be well on your way to victory. Good luck, and have a wonderful, wonderful day!
