Plan the City Pickups, Entrance Tasks and Belnistrasz Event
Razorfen Downs has five core quest lines to plan around, and two contain additional handoffs. Belnistrasz requires an Oathstone conversation before his escort. The Horde's Small Scroll begins in Razorfen Kraul, a separate dungeon, before it sends you through Undercity and back to the Downs entrance.
This guide covers the original WoW Classic Era and Anniversary quests. The table separates work you prepare in a city or another dungeon from the tasks you find around and inside Razorfen Downs.

The listed minimums describe quest acceptance levels. Choose a dungeon group and challenge appropriate for your character as well; a quest becoming available does not establish that every encounter is suitable at that level.
The two neutral lines are available to both factions. The city boss quest differs by faction, while An Unholy Alliance adds a separate Horde preparation route. Completing the final boss alone does not finish the entrance kill counters or Belnistrasz's event.
Pick Up Your Faction's Amnennar Quest Before Travelling
- Alliance: Bring the Light
Collect Bring the Light, quest 3636, from Archbishop Benedictus in Stormwind. The objective is to slay Amnennar the Coldbringer. Report back to Benedictus afterward.
- Horde: Bring the End
Collect Bring the End, quest 3341, from Andrew Brownell in Undercity's Magic Quarter. Kill Amnennar and recover the Skull of the Coldbringer for the return trip.
For the Horde task, check the loot as well as the kill. Bring the Light uses a kill objective; Bring the End requires possession of the skull. Before leaving the dungeon, confirm that you have what your particular quest asks for.
An Unholy Alliance Starts in Kraul, Then Returns to the Downs
The Small Scroll is not a Razorfen Downs boss drop. It comes from Charlga Razorflank in Razorfen Kraul. Plan that prerequisite before expecting the Malcin follow-up to be available.
The two quests share the title An Unholy Alliance, but their objectives and required items differ:
- Obtain the Small Scroll from Charlga in Kraul. The item begins quest 6522.
- Deliver the scroll to Varimathras in Undercity. Complete that hand-in and accept the next An Unholy Alliance task, quest 6521.
- Find Ambassador Malcin outside Razorfen Downs. Kill him and recover Ambassador Malcin's Head.
- Return the head to Varimathras. Andrew Brownell is the recipient for Amnennar's skull, while Varimathras receives Malcin's head.
The first quest's completion text explicitly identifies Razorfen Kraul. Check the objective in your log before heading back to the Downs: a scroll-delivery task is not yet the Malcin-head task.
At the Entrance, Collect Myriam's Three Kill Counters
Myriam Moonsinger offers A Host of Evil, quest 6626, near the entrance. Its enemies are associated with the approach to the dungeon; do not assume the Amnennar boss objective will complete this separate task.
- Eight Razorfen Battleguard.
- Eight Razorfen Thornweavers.
- Eight Death's Head Cultists.
Check all three counters, then return to Myriam. Eight enemies of one type do not replace missing kills of another. The quest's turn-in is near the entrance, rather than at either faction's city contact.
Inside: Return the Oathstone Before Starting Belnistrasz's Escort
When you reach Belnistrasz, begin with Scourge of the Downs, quest 3523. He provides Belnistrasz's Oathstone; speak with him again and hand it back to complete this short preparation step.
Then accept Extinguishing the Idol, quest 3525. Coordinate with the group before starting so everyone who wants the line has completed the Oathstone handoff and is ready for the event.
The objective has two parts: escort Belnistrasz to the quilboar idol, then protect him while he performs the ritual. Reaching the destination does not finish the protection task. His quest text explains that he cannot defend himself properly during the ritual.
After Belnistrasz departs, interact with the brazier he leaves behind. The completion text describes the message in its flames, and the game-record endpoint includes Belnistrasz's Brazier. Finish the hand-in there rather than leaving immediately after the fighting ends.
Before Leaving, Match Each Objective to Its Recipient
Keep the event completion separate from the city return trip:
- Near the entrance: report all three A Host of Evil counters to Myriam Moonsinger.
- Inside the dungeon: finish Extinguishing the Idol at Belnistrasz's Brazier after the ritual.
- Alliance, Stormwind: report Amnennar's defeat to Archbishop Benedictus.
- Horde, Undercity: give Amnennar's skull to Andrew Brownell and Malcin's head to Varimathras, if you completed the respective quests.
