A Full Quest Clear Needs the Caves, Both Wings and the Princess Section
Plan Maraudon as a full quest clear when forming your group. Several objectives are in the external caves, while others require the purple wing, the orange wing or Princess Theradras. Collect the pickups and prepare the vial at the orange pool before choosing an instance portal.
This is the original Classic Maraudon quest route, including the quests used during the initial Classic Fresh leveling experience. Each faction has three faction-specific quests and five shared quests. The shared Scepter quest follows Legends of Maraudon, and Seed of Life becomes a pickup after the Princess encounter.
The route below groups tasks by area. Arrange coverage of both wings with your party before finishing the scepter hand-in.
Before Travelling: Collect Your Three Faction Quests
Shadowshard Fragments sends Alliance players to Theramore and Horde players to Orgrimmar before the Desolace trip. Collect the other two faction tasks in Desolace. The listed levels are minimum quest acceptance levels.

Accept your faction's version of each task. Both versions use the same corresponding dungeon objective, but their recipients differ. These three quests are available to all classes in the relevant faction.
In Desolace: Add the Shared Pickups and Fill the Vial
- The Pariah's Instructions: minimum level 39
Find Centaur Pariah, who patrols southern Desolace south of Mannoroc Coven. Accept The Pariah's Instructions and read the supplied parchment. His objective is the Amulet of Union, assembled through the five-Khan route below. Return it to him for Mark of the Chosen.
- Twisted Evils: minimum level 41
Collect Twisted Evils from Willow in Kormek's Hut, around 62, 39 in Desolace. Keep the Theradric Crystal Carvings you find during the clear and return them to Willow. Her reward choices are Acumen Robes, Sprightring Helm, Relentless Chain or Hulkstone Pauldrons.
- Legends of Maraudon: minimum level 41
Speak with Cavindra in the external orange-side caves and accept Legends of Maraudon. This is the collection quest for the Celebrian Diamond and Celebrian Rod. Cavindra starts the quest; Celebras the Redeemed receives the parts later inside.
Twisted Evils has a version-dependent quantity. The linked original Classic quest record asks for 25 carvings; the TBC version asks for 15. Use the objective count in your character's quest log for the version you are playing.
At the orange crystal pool outside the instance portal, fill the Coated Cerulean Vial supplied by Vyletongue Corruption. It becomes the Filled Cerulean Vial used on the vines inside. Do this while you are in the orange approach, even if your party intends to enter the purple wing first.
The Five Khans: Three Outside the Portals, Two Inside
For the Pariah's task, first defeat The Nameless Prophet in the external caves and recover the Amulet of Spirits. Use its power on each Khan to make the spirit manifest and become attackable, then collect that Khan's gem. The Pariah's in-game instructions name all five.

Keep the amulet and every gem until the set is complete. With all five gems present, use the Gem of the First Khan's combine action to place them in the Amulet of Spirits and form the Amulet of Union. Take that completed amulet back to Centaur Pariah in Desolace.
Across the Wings: Gather Fragments and Both Scepter Parts
- Purple approach: Shadowshard Fragments
Collect 10 Shadowshard Fragments from Shadowshard Smashers and Shadowshard Rumblers outside the purple instance portal. Their location makes this an exterior-cave task. Return the fragments to Tervosh or Uthel'nay according to your accepted quest, choosing Zealous Shadowshard Pendant or Prodigious Shadowshard Pendant.
- Purple wing: Celebrian Diamond
Recover the Celebrian Diamond from Lord Vyletongue for Legends of Maraudon. Include Maraudos for the fourth Khan gem if you are completing the Pariah's task.
- Orange wing: Celebrian Rod
Recover the Celebrian Rod from Noxxion. Veng supplies the fifth Khan gem in this wing, and the Vylestem Vines are the targets for your filled vial.
Both scepter parts belong to Legends of Maraudon. Keep them together for Celebras rather than treating either boss drop as the completed scepter. Continue collecting Willow's carvings as you cover the dungeon.
Orange Wing Vines: Heal Eight Plants
With your Filled Cerulean Vial ready, use it on the Vylestem Vines inside the orange wing. This forces Noxxious Scion to emerge. Defeat the spawned enemies to heal the plants.
Continue until your quest log shows eight Vylestem Vines healed. Filling the bottle alone is preparation; the summoned-enemy encounters complete the counter. Return to Talendria or Vark Battlescar afterward.
Vyletongue Corruption offers a choice of Woodseed Hoop, Sagebrush Girdle or Branchclaw Gauntlets.
At Celebras: Turn In the Parts, Then Complete the Ritual
Once you have both the Diamond and Rod, defeat Celebras the Cursed and speak with Celebras the Redeemed. Complete Legends of Maraudon with him.
Then accept The Scepter of Celebras, its follow-up available from level 41. Stay with him and follow the ritual instructions. When the ritual is complete, speak with Celebras again to finish the quest and receive the Scepter of Celebras. To restart the ritual, abandon The Scepter of Celebras and speak with him again.
The Scepter's use effect creates a portal that takes group members who use it to Earth Song Falls in inner Maraudon. A later shortcut trip to that section serves a different plan from covering both wings for parts and Khan gems. Agree on which objectives the group is completing before taking the shortcut.
Princess Theradras: Finish the Kill Quest and Pick Up Seed of Life
Corruption of Earth and Seed requires you to slay Princess Theradras. It is a kill objective, so there is no quest head or other Princess item to bring back for this task. Report to Keeper Marandis for the Alliance version or Selendra for the Horde version.
The weapon reward is a choice of Thrash Blade, Resurgence Rod or Verdant Keeper's Aim. Plan the choice around the character receiving it rather than assuming the sword is the right reward for every class.
After the Princess encounter, speak with Zaetar's Spirit before leaving. He offers the separate shared quest Seed of Life and supplies the Seed of Life. Deliver it to Keeper Remulos at the Shrine of Remulos in Moonglade.
After the Clear: Group Your Remaining Deliveries
- Southern Desolace: Centaur Pariah receives the completed Amulet of Union.
- Kormek's Hut: Willow receives the required Theradric Crystal Carvings.
- Nijel's Point, Alliance: Talendria receives the completed vines task; Keeper Marandis receives the Princess kill report.
- Shadowprey area, Horde: Vark Battlescar receives the vines task; Selendra, south of the village, receives the Princess kill report.
- Theramore or Orgrimmar: return the 10 Shadowshard Fragments to your faction's original giver.
- Moonglade: Keeper Remulos receives the Seed of Life.
