Plan Gnomeregan Around Pickups and Return Trips
Gnomeregan's quests need more preparation than a boss-kill list. Alliance players collect jobs in Ironforge, Stormwind and Kharanos; Horde players have a transport setup and Rig Wars; both factions can find an escort, the Sparklematic and a ring quest inside.
This guide covers the original WoW Classic dungeon, including Fresh/Era-style quest objectives. The Season of Discovery raid and WoW Forever use separate version contexts.
Alliance Pickups Before Entering
Five jobs come from Ironforge or Stormwind. Their turn-ins go back to the same named NPCs; Ozzie's two sample quests are handled separately because they form a sequence.

Essential Artificials is a container search, not simply another robot-loot objective. For Techbot, account for the exterior Train Depot/Loading Room area when planning the approach.
Referrals such as Tinkmaster Overspark, The Day After, Klockmort's Essentials and Castpipe's Task point toward the main quest givers. They should not be confused with the actual dungeon jobs or with Ozzie's genuine sample follow-up.
Ozzie's Samples: Two Phials and One Expiring Item
Both quests start and end with Ozzie Togglevolt in Kharanos, Dun Morogh.
- First: Gnogaine
Use the supplied Empty Leaden Collection Phial on Irradiated Invaders or Irradiated Pillagers. Bring the resulting Full Leaden Collection Phial back to Ozzie. His quest instructions specify the trogg targets.
- Then: The Only Cure is More Green Glow
The follow-up supplies a Heavy Leaden Collection Phial. Sample irradiated slimes, lurkers or horrors, then return both the High Potency Radioactive Fallout and the heavy phial. The follow-up text warns that more than one sampling attempt may be needed.
The two-hour duration belongs to the collected fallout. The High Potency Radioactive Fallout item expires after two hours. It is not a two-hour deadline beginning when the quest is accepted. Once the sample is collected, plan the return to Ozzie before it expires.
Because the follow-up is obtained after returning the first sample, having Gnogaine in the log is not the same as already having the heavy phial for the second task.
Data Rescue: White to Yellow to Blue to Red to Prismatic
Start with a White Punch Card, then use the Matrix Punchographs in A, B, C, D order. Each terminal produces the card needed for the next one:
- 3005-A: White Punch Card to Yellow Punch Card.
- 3005-B: Yellow Punch Card to Blue Punch Card.
- 3005-C: Blue Punch Card to Red Punch Card.
- 3005-D: Red Punch Card to Prismatic Punch Card.
A is in the exterior Dun Morogh portion; B, C and D are inside Gnomeregan. Return the final Prismatic card to Master Mechanic Castpipe in Ironforge. A colored intermediate card is not the finished turn-in.
Horde: Set Up Scooty's Transport and Finish Both Rig Wars Objectives
Pick up Rig Wars from Nogg in Orgrimmar. It requires Thermaplugg's Safe Combination from Mekgineer Thermaplugg and the Rig Blueprints from the safe near him. Looting the boss without opening the safe leaves an objective unfinished. Return both to Nogg.
For travel, Chief Engineer Scooty sends you from Sovik in Orgrimmar to Scooty in Booty Bay. Continue with Gnomer-gooooone! and wait for calibration to receive the Goblin Transponder.
Carry the transponder and step onto the pad to travel to Gnomeregan. Scooty's instructions also identify the Gnomeregan transpolyporter pad for the return. Keep the transponder rather than treating it as a one-way quest hand-in.
Both Factions: Escort, Cleaning Machine and Ring
- A Fine Mess
Accept the escort from Kernobee inside Gnomeregan. Get him to the Clockwerk Run exit, then report to Scooty in Booty Bay. The completed escort still has an outdoor turn-in.
- The Sparklematic 5200!
At the machine in the Clean Room, use one Grime-Encrusted Object and three silver for the initial cleaning task and its wrapped-box completion. More Sparklematic Action repeats the object-and-fee exchange.
- Grime-Encrusted Ring
The ring quest starts from the item dropped by a Dark Iron Agent. Clean it at the Sparklematic for three silver to get the Brilliant Gold Ring, then choose whether to pursue its faction follow-up.
The follow-up recipients are Talvash del Kissel in Ironforge for Alliance and Nogg in Orgrimmar for Horde. Their subsequent upgrades, Gnome Improvement and Nogg's Ring Redo, each require the Brilliant Gold Ring, one Silver Bar, one Moss Agate and 30 silver. This is not free choice of the opposite faction's NPC.
Before leaving, check the exact collection counts, the final Prismatic card and both Rig Wars items as applicable. Then route the outdoor turn-ins together, giving the expiring fallout priority if it is in your bags.
