Rank 6 Costs 750 Remnants from Rank 5, or 2,250 from Rank 1

Champion's Seal of the Dawn is the Rank 6 Seal in Season of Discovery. Its upgrade costs 750 Remnants of Valor if you already have Rank 5; the cumulative cost from Rank 1 is 2,250. Collecting 750 on a new character does not pay for every earlier upgrade.

This guide preserves the Phase 7 progression described on February 25, 2025, with the later Rank 7 cap explained below. The farming quantities are dated observations from Spongy's February 25 report; they are not a promise that every reward remained unchanged in later patches.

Every Upgrade Step and Its Quest

The first six rows show the historical progression to Champion. The final row adds the later Rank 7 step: its Cultivating Faith quest requires another 900 Remnants. Cumulative totals assume you begin with the free Rank 1 Seal and buy each upgrade in order.

5A New Light600 Remnants1,500

Use the column that matches your starting point. The cumulative column includes earlier payments; it is not the amount to hand in for a single quest. The old weekly release schedule also does not mean a returning character must wait that number of weeks between these steps.

Take the Remnants to Kug Softjaw Inside Naxxramas

Kug Softjaw handles the Seal quest chain inside Naxxramas. Merely carrying enough currency does not complete an upgrade: you must finish the relevant quest and collect its reward.

  1. Obtain the initial Seal. Speak to Kug for Hope Begins in the Dark if you have not started the chain.
  2. Identify the next quest. Use the table to match your current progress. The quests follow one another; a character beginning at Rank 1 still needs the intervening turn-ins.
  3. Bring the amount for that step. For Rank 6, complete A Product of Faith with 750 Remnants after A New Light.
  4. Read the reward choice before accepting. The quest offers three Champion's Seal versions. Choose the one suited to your role rather than relying on their shared name.

Blizzard's Phase 7 overview explains that Sanctified gear and the Seal support progression through Naxxramas' Empower difficulty system. Empowering quarters increases the raid's challenge and rewards; this is the SoD system to plan around.

Where the Historical Remnants Rewards Came From

The following quantities are the February 25, 2025 source report's figures. Check the reward offered in your version of the game before using them to budget a present-day farm.

SourceReported rewardPlanning condition
Karazhan Crypts10 Remnants per bossDaily lockout; repeat entries do not create unlimited daily boss rewards.
Never at Rest200 Remnants per hand-inRepeatable, after its prerequisite; obtain and turn in another Heart of Doom.
Naxxramas10-45 Remnants per bossThe reported amount depended on enabled hard modes.

Dungeon alternatives were also added. Blizzard's February 13 hotfix notes made Remnants available once per day from Scholomance and Stratholme Dead Side bosses, on the same daily timer as Tarnished Undermine Reals. No fixed quantity for those extra sources is assumed here.

Choose a route your character or group can complete reliably. The highest listed boss reward is not an hourly farming rate, and enabling more difficulty is useful only if the group can finish the encounter.

Never at Rest: Finish the Prerequisite, Then Loot and Turn In the Heart

The repeatable route needs more preparation than simply visiting an invasion and asking for Remnants:

  1. Complete Laid to Rest first. The initial Heart of Doom quest item starts Laid to Rest. Take that introductory quest to Brother Luctus at Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands.
  2. Accept Never at Rest from Brother Luctus. The repeatable quest follows that completed prerequisite and asks for another Heart of Doom. The initial quest-starting Heart and the repeatable turn-in item are separate records despite sharing a name.
  3. Earn credit on a Shadow of Doom and click its Heart object. Blizzard specified that later Remnants Hearts required the Shadow's tag. After it dies, loot the interactable Heart of Doom object; do not assume the quest item arrives automatically.
  4. Return the Heart to Luctus. His soul projections in invasion zones also support picking up and turning in the repeatable quest, reducing the need to return to Light's Hope for every hand-in.

There is a five-minute loot restriction. The February 4 notes gave the Heart object a five-minute lifetime and prevented looting another Heart for five minutes after a successful loot. A repeatable quest does not remove that restriction. These details, the prerequisite, projections and daily dungeon drops are recorded in Blizzard's dated Season of Discovery hotfix log.

Use the Correct Role Version, Then Plan for the Rank 7 Cap

The Champion reward has damage, healing and tank versions with different effects. Its Naxxramas bonus scales with equipped Sanctified items, with no further benefit beyond eight. For example, the tank version's tooltip includes threat; that wording should not be treated as the tooltip for every role.

Rank 6 was an intermediate milestone. On March 10, 2025, Kaivax announced that the Seal would stop increasing at Rank 7. Characters already at Rank 7 did not need to spend more Remnants on another weekly upgrade.

That announcement also identified uses for surplus Remnants: exchange them for Argent Dawn Valor Tokens, or mail them to alts for their Seals or reputation tokens. Keep the next upgrade's cost reserved before spending surplus; the historical plan should not send you toward an assumed Rank 8-10 unlock.
