Ten Bag Quest Routes for Vanilla WoW Classic
Bag quests can improve your inventory while you level, but the useful reward is sometimes several turn-ins away. This reference covers Classic Era and the original level 1-60 Classic Fresh ruleset. Later expansion versions can change quests, capacities and access requirements; a Fresh realm's name alone does not establish which rules it now uses.
The ten routes below range from four-slot starter bags to a sixteen-slot reward at the end of a long group quest chain. Compare each reward with the bag it would replace. A long detour for a smaller bag is rarely useful solely for storage, while a quest already on your route can be worth completing for several reasons.
“Minimum” means the recorded acceptance requirement for the bag-awarding quest, not the recommended combat level. Earlier chain stages and faction access still apply. For example, Carry Your Weight requires level 4 although its displayed quest level is 7; the final demon quest requires 45 although its displayed level is 60 and its earlier route has additional conditions.

These quest bags bind when picked up and have Unique tooltips. Plan the route on the character that needs the reward; these are not repeatable bag-farming or mail-to-an-alt methods. Linked quest records below provide the individual objectives, while Questie's fixed Classic data and Era corrections support the faction and prerequisite distinctions.
Early Local Routes: Four to Eight Slots
Carry Your Weight: Horde, four slots
Speak to Furl Scornbrow in the Razor Hill watchtower in Durotar. Carry Your Weight asks for 8 Canvas Scraps, collected from the relevant human and centaur enemies in the zone. Return to Furl for the Handmade Leather Bag.
The Classic reward is four slots. Do not substitute an expanded capacity from a later version of the item when deciding whether this quest is an upgrade.
Buzzbox repairs: Alliance, six slots
Start Buzzbox 827 with Wizbang Cranktoggle in Auberdine, Darkshore. Thereafter, the machines themselves handle the chain's hand-ins and next quests. Follow the sequence rather than looking for a standalone bag pickup at the final box:
- Buzzbox 827: deliver 6 Crawler Legs to the machine south of Auberdine.
- Buzzbox 411: collect 3 Thresher Eyes from Darkshore Threshers off the coast and deliver them to the northern machine.
- Buzzbox 323: deliver 6 Moonstalker Fangs to the next machine near the northern road and bridge.
- Buzzbox 525: deliver 4 Grizzled Scalps from Grizzled Thistle Bears to the machine farther south.
The final repair awards Wizbang's Gunnysack. The chain's level-7 acceptance minimum does not make every later animal safe for a level-7 character.
Poor Old Blanchy: Alliance, four slots
Verna Furlbrow in Westfall wants 8 Handfuls of Oats for Poor Old Blanchy. Gather the oats around the farms and return to Verna. The four-slot Feed Pouch is a fixed reward, alongside the blanket; it is not a choice between the bag and the blanket.
Captain Sander's Hidden Treasure: both factions, eight slots
The chain begins with Captain Sander's Treasure Map, a quest-starting drop from Westfall murlocs. Read the map, then follow the objects in order:
Captain's Footlocker near the western shipwreck → Broken Barrel by the ruined chimney → Old Jug beside the northern windmill → Locked Chest on the island to the west.
Each clue advances the chain. The final chest quest awards Captain Sander's Booty Bag. Both factions qualify in the Classic records, even though the route is in Westfall. No fixed map-drop chance or guaranteed farming time is assumed here.
Ten-Slot Rewards: Watch the Final Choice
Deviate Hides: choose the pack at Nalpak
Accept Deviate Hides from Nalpak above the Wailing Caverns entrance. Bring him 20 Deviate Hides from the deviate creatures in the caverns. Both factions can take the quest from level 13.
Select Deviate Hide Pack if you want the ten-slot bag. Slick Deviate Leggings is the alternative reward; choosing it does not also grant the pack. For the wider dungeon pickup route, see the Wailing Caverns quest and turn-in guide.
The Night Watch: the bag is the third-stage reward
Speak to Commander Althea Ebonlocke in Darkshire. All three stages share the same quest name, so check the current objective:
- First stage: 8 Skeletal Warriors and 6 Skeletal Mages, with the quest directing you toward Tranquil Gardens.
- Second stage: 15 Skeletal Fiends and 15 Skeletal Horrors; return to Althea when complete.
- Final stage: 20 Plague Spreaders in the eastern Raven Hill mausoleum, then return to Althea again.
The final stage offers Gunnysack of the Night Watch as a choice alongside a quiver and a bandolier. Select the ten-slot general bag for ordinary inventory storage. The first skeleton task does not award it, and the level-18 acceptance minimum is separate from the final stage's displayed level of 30.
Digging Through the Ooze: recover Sida's quest item
Accept Digging Through the Ooze from Sida in Menethil Harbor, Wetlands. Hunt the oozes at Ironbeard's Tomb for Sida's Bag, then return it to her.
Sida's Bag is the objective item; Ooze-covered Bag is the ten-slot reward she gives after the turn-in. This is an Alliance quest in the Classic faction data and requires level 19. Do not confuse the quest item's name with the reward you are trying to obtain.
Cortello's Riddle: Three Regions for a Fourteen-Slot Bag
Look for Cortello's Riddle aboard one of the three Bloodsail ships in southern Stranglethorn Vale. Read the quest-starting scroll. It is an object pickup, not a guaranteed quest offered by one named captain. All three stages require level 35 in the Classic records, although their displayed quest levels rise from 43 to 51.

The coordinates are zone coordinates for the quest objects. The final reward is the fourteen-slot Explorer's Knapsack. Accept the next stage at each scroll before leaving that region; reaching the final location without completing the earlier riddles is not the whole route.
This is a travel chain. It is easier to judge its value when you already plan to visit the regions than when treating “minimum 35” as a promise of a short local bag quest.
The Platinum Discs: Finish the City Voucher for Thawpelt Sack
The fourteen-slot bag is not awarded directly by the discs in Uldaman. The shared dungeon stage leads to a faction city delivery and then a separate Reward Voucher hand-in.
- At the Discs of Norgannon in Uldaman, complete the lore stage. Speak with the Stone Watcher and learn its information, then activate the discs as directed. Access them again for the miniature discs and your faction's delivery quest.
- Alliance: take the Miniature Platinum Discs to High Explorer Magellas in Ironforge. Then take his Reward Voucher to Dinita Stonemantle in the Vault of Ironforge.
- Horde: take the Miniature Platinum Discs to Sage Truthseeker in Thunder Bluff. Then take the Reward Voucher to Bena Winterhoof in Thunder Bluff.
The Alliance voucher quest and Horde voucher quest both award Thawpelt Sack as a fixed reward. The separate choice is between the offered healing or mana potions; choosing a potion does not replace the bag.
The recorded minimum is level 40, distinct from the displayed quest level of 47. Before leaving the dungeon, confirm that you have taken the miniature-disc delivery follow-up. Before considering the bag route complete, redeem the city voucher.
Demon Hide Sack: A Long Group Chain, Not a Level-45 Shortcut
You Are Rakh'likh, Demon awards the sixteen-slot Demon Hide Sack. The final quest is available to both factions and records a level-45 minimum, but it is a displayed level-60 group quest with a substantial prerequisite chain.
The earlier path involves the Fallen Hero of the Horde near the Blasted Lands/Swamp of Sorrows border, followed by Loramus Thalipedes in Azshara and the Felbane weaponry work with Galvan the Ancient. For the Horde, the earlier route includes Fall From Grace. The Alliance route includes Petty Squabbles, which requires level 50. The final quest's minimum alone therefore does not establish that every character can begin and finish the whole route at 45.
The immediate predecessor is Uniting the Shattered Amulet. Its objectives involve Grol the Destroyer, Lady Sevine and Archmage Allistarj, with the provided Enchanted Azsharite Fel Weaponry used as directed. Completing only the much earlier Formation of Felbane does not skip these stages.
For the final quest, use the teleport-rune access to Razelikh's mountain lair and the Ward of the Defiler at the altar to summon him. Defeat Razelikh, then return both the Severed Horn of the Defiler and the Ward to the Fallen Hero. Demon Hide Sack is a fixed reward at that completion, not a bag-loot chance on the demon.
Plan this around the chain and a suitable group, rather than choosing it as an immediate answer to a starter character's inventory shortage.
Correct Drop Alternatives and Storage Decisions
These three dropped bags are alternatives, not guaranteed rewards for completing one of the routes above. Their original Classic capacities and named sources are:

The source relation is not a guaranteed drop. In particular, Onyxia's raid reward is a different level of commitment from a local levelling quest. No drop odds, respawn schedule or expected farming time are promised here.
Crafted bags are another option when the quest reward would not improve your current inventory. Compare a suitable crafted bag's actual cost with the quest's travel and reward choice. A database's generic item purchase-value field does not mean a quest-only bag is sold by an NPC.
Carried space and bank space solve different problems. Bank bags store items in town; they do not expand what you can carry into a dungeon. An alt can hold eligible items only where your mode permits trading or mailing, and these bind-on-pickup quest bags cannot themselves be mailed over. If you use the mailbox temporarily, follow the in-game expiry information and collect items in time. It is not permanent storage.
