The Forbidden Archives theme, which first appeared in Season 20, returns as the focal point of Season 31. The ancient artefact known as Kanai's Cube holds immense power, and Zoltun Kulle — the celebrated yet reviled Horadrim — explored its potential thoroughly. During Season 31, the usual restrictions on Kanai's Cube slots are lifted. Normally, players can equip one power each from the Weapon, Armor, and Jewelry categories. This season, players can mix and match powers freely across all three categories — running two Weapon powers alongside one Armor power, or combining three Amulet powers if you prefer. The freedom to stack power types opens up build combinations that are impossible in a standard season.
Season 31 brings back the cosmetic rewards from Season 7 as part of the Season Journey. Players who already collected those rewards in a previous season will see two brand-new additions waiting at the end of the full Season Journey: the Valor Portrait Frame and the Angelic Treasure Goblin pet.
The Conqueror Set — consisting of Helm and Shoulders slots — grants access to the Eternal Woods portrait frame series. And the Dream of Piers pet will keep you warm through the darkest rifts (when it's not busy scaring the local creatures).
