The December 2023 Hotfix for Abattoir of Zir
Blizzard began rolling out Hotfix 2 for Patch 1.2.3a on December 8, 2023. It adjusted the original Season of Blood Abattoir of Zir, including Glyph experience, early difficulty and Bloodseeker affixes.
PezRadar’s official rollout post supplied the changes below. This is a historical patch reference for the event that ran in Season 2.
All Five Published Glyph XP Examples
| Abattoir tier | Before the hotfix | After the hotfix |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1,000 | 1,000 |
| 5 | 1,800 | 2,800 |
| 10 | 3,900 | 11,600 |
| 20 | 11,900 | 65,400 |
| 25 | 17,800 | 117,100 |
Tier 1 remained unchanged. These are the five examples Blizzard published, rather than a complete XP table for every tier from 1 to 25. The notes did not provide intermediate values for interpolation.
Early Difficulty and Incoming Damage
The revised starting tier was near Nightmare Dungeon Tier 90 difficulty. Abattoir Tier 5 reached a comparison near Nightmare Tier 100, while Tier 10 matched its previous tuning. Incoming damage fell by up to approximately 20% across Abattoir tiers.
The qualification matters: this was not a stated flat 20% reduction to every attack. A launch-day clear and a later attempt at the same tier could also face different tuning.
Bloodseeker Affixes and Other Fixes
Bloodseekers could no longer spawn with Vampiric or Suppressor. This covered Bloodseekers in both Season of Blood content and Abattoir of Zir. It was not an announcement removing those affixes from every enemy in the game.
The hotfix also addressed a Season Journey Glyph-leveling issue and included performance and stability improvements.
