A Season 2 Snapshot Rated Ring Fit for Ten Necromancer Builds

Infinimist and Pentadot received S grades in the Necromancer snapshot published with Wowhead’s November 7, 2023 Malignant Ring announcement. The grades described the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul’s usefulness for those builds in Patch 1.2.2.

The source is Jezartroz’s original Season 2 article. Its preserved image contains ten Necromancer entries, reproduced completely in the table here. This is a historical ring-compatibility snapshot, rather than a current all-class build ranking.

A Ring-Fit Grade Was Different from Overall Build Strength

The announcement described an evaluation involving item affixes, the ring’s power and the builds of that period. A grade for this particular item did not establish a measured DPS percentage or a universal ranking of the whole build.

For example, Bone Spear’s C grade here is a statement about the source’s ring evaluation. It does not mean every Bone Spear character had C-tier overall damage, or that an S-rated entry must beat it in every encounter.

Likewise, the image supplies categories rather than a measured gap between them. A jump from C to A cannot be converted into a specific percentage improvement without additional data.

What the Ring Automated at Launch

Blizzard’s 1.2.2 notes describe automatic activation of equipped Raise Skeleton, Corpse Explosion and Corpse Tendrils around the character. The original intervals were one to two seconds for each of the first two skills and eight to sixteen seconds for Tendrils.

That wording creates concrete setup questions: are the relevant skills equipped, are corpses available, and what happens during the encounter when the automatic activation becomes available? It does not prove the reasons behind every grade in the image.

Compare a Build Change Beyond the Ring Tooltip

A switch to another build can change the skill bar, resource use, other required items and the actions performed during a fight. The ring grade alone does not price in every change a particular character would need to make.

Separate two comparisons: replacing the ring within your existing setup, and rebuilding the character around another setup. The second comparison needs evidence about the whole build, rather than treating the item’s grade as a shortcut.

Keep the Snapshot Attached to Patch 1.2.2

The dated image is useful for interpreting Season 2 discussions. A later patch can change an item, a skill or a competing ring, so the letters should not be carried forward as current recommendations.

For the names, classes and original effects of all five items, use the Malignant Ring reference. This page’s table has a narrower purpose: preserving the complete, verifiable Necromancer snapshot and explaining its limits.
