The Saved Launch Image Contains Fourteen A-Tier Builds
The May 15, 2024 leveling announcement preserved an A-tier group with Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer and Sorcerer options. It evaluated early progression in Diablo 4 Patch 1.4.0, just after Loot Reborn began on May 14.
Jezartroz’s Wowhead report presented a changing seasonal evaluation rather than a timed leveling dataset. Its image supplies the complete A-tier selection below. This is a historical snapshot, separate from later expansions’ leveling systems and classes.

Every Build Pictured in A Tier
Rows retain the image’s class grouping. The shared A grade does not assign a first-through-fourteenth place.
| Build name in the original image | Class |
|---|---|
| Bash | Barbarian |
| Charge | Barbarian |
| Double Swing | Barbarian |
| Lightning Storm | Druid |
| Poison Companion | Druid |
| Pulverize | Druid |
| Blight CE | Necromancer |
| Bone Spear | Necromancer |
| Sever | Necromancer |
| Summoner | Necromancer |
| Arc Lash | Sorcerer |
| Frozen Orb | Sorcerer |
| Ice Shards | Sorcerer |
| Incinerate | Sorcerer |
“CE” is the screenshot’s abbreviation for Corpse Explosion. It treats Blight CE, Bone Spear, Sever and Summoner as separate Necromancer options. The Rogue class has no entry in this particular A-tier image; that does not establish its position in tiers outside the capture.
Green plus symbols appear beside Bash, Poison Companion, Frozen Orb and Incinerate. Down arrows appear beside Pulverize and Sever. The capture does not show the prior grades or a numerical performance change, so those markers should stay attached to the image rather than become invented speed estimates.
Loot Reborn Changed the Journey Around the Build
Helltides were available before World Tier III
Blizzard’s released 1.4.0 notes introduced Helltides in World Tiers I and II. Those versions used Mystery chests, omitted roaming bosses and adjusted density for their intended difficulty.
This gave early characters a real activity choice. When judging an old leveling recommendation, identify where its example was played: campaign progress, Helltides and dungeons present different sequences of travel and combat. A tier label alone does not supply that route.
Salvaging a better Aspect roll upgraded the Codex
The Loot Reborn overview explains that salvaged Legendary powers were stored in the Codex and could be reused. Salvaging a stronger roll upgraded the stored Aspect. That made a found power a reusable part of the setup rather than a single item to protect indefinitely.
For an early build comparison, distinguish an unavailable enabling power from a skill setup that simply feels slow. Those lead to different next steps: locating the power versus changing how the character spends time in combat.
Tempering and Masterworking served different stages
Learned Tempering Manuals let the Blacksmith add affixes from their small pools. Masterworking was the endgame upgrade system using Pit materials. These were distinct tools; an endgame Masterworking result was not evidence that a fresh leveling character had the same setup.
Use the Capture for Its Specific Question
The table answers which builds appeared in this May A-tier group. It does not reproduce an entire skill tree, gear list or all the publisher’s tiers. If comparing a contemporary character, preserve its level, available powers and activity alongside the build name.
For the broader historical system changes, the Loot Reborn overview provides the companion context. Later maintained guides can help with a later version, but their current allocations should not be presented as the May 2024 launch setup.
