Diablo 4 Eye of the Depths: The 2024 WIP Amulet Report

What Players Reported in May 2024

Eye of the Depths was the name on the unfinished amulet screenshot shared during Diablo 4’s Season 4: Loot Reborn. On May 20, 2024, Rikukun’s original player post reported finding it during a Helltide. This is a historical report, not a current loot recommendation.

The image identifies an Ancestral Unique Amulet with a WIP prefix and an unfinished power line. The player later supplied additional inventory/equipped images in the thread. That is a player-submitted report; it is not evidence that WowCarry independently found or tested the item.

What the Tooltip Establishes—and What It Does Not

WIP means work in progress; TBD means to be determined. Both labels appear on the item itself in the original screenshot.

The tooltip shows ordinary affixes but no completed description of a Unique power. It cannot establish a secret activation method, a future crafting recipe, a guaranteed drop rate or a collectible’s future value. Jokes in the thread about fishing or the cow level should not become farming instructions.

Keep the Screenshot Name Separate from a Live Database Label

Garmanoth’s May 21 follow-up covers the same report. Its linked item label now displays Blood-Mad Idol, while the original screenshot clearly says Eye of the Depths. A changing database label alone does not establish what happened to every copy already in player inventories.

If documenting a similar anomaly, preserve the full tooltip, game version, date and circumstances of the drop. Compare those details with a dated developer fix before assuming an unfinished item has a working power or a promised conversion into a released Unique.
