The Original Recipe Needed Every Chapter, Not Every Objective
The original Abattoir of Zir was World Tier IV content, with its normal recipe unlock tied to completing all seven Season 2 Journey chapters. Each chapter had its own completion threshold, so completing the Journey did not require finishing every listed objective.
These were the requirements for the original Season of Blood event, which ran December 5, 2023–January 23, 2024. Blizzard’s launch instructions describe the recipe condition; the event arrived with Patch 1.2.3 on December 5, 2023.
The Seven Real Chapter Thresholds
Shugo’s Season 2 Journey reference at Mobalytics records these chapter names and counts:

Reaching Chapter IV was not the end of the Journey. Slayer, Champion and Destroyer were the three later chapters, and the AoZ recipe condition covered their completion too.
Destroyer: Choose Seven of These Nine Objectives
The final chapter’s choices are documented in James Carr’s October 2023 objective list. The original game screenshot below also shows the seven-of-nine rule and the two-kill Duriel counter.

The final chapter allowed two omissions. For example, a player could skip both the Seeds of Hatred objective and Echo of Lilith by completing the other seven. That still meant meeting demanding alternatives such as the Nightmare Dungeon, Glyph, gear and World Boss goals.
Likewise, a PvP objective appearing in an earlier chapter did not make it mandatory: the threshold allowed alternative objectives. Chapter IV’s player-kill task was one of eleven choices, with nine needed.
Chapter Rewards and the AoZ Recipe Were Different Things
Destroyer’s listed rewards were the Shadow and Vampire title components and Braggart’s Cache containing Potent Blood. They were the Journey rewards, separate from the equipment and Glyph progression earned through AoZ completions.
After meeting the original recipe condition, players crafted a Bloodforged Sigil at the Occultist to open the Visceral Channel in Ked Bardu. The Abattoir event reference covers the timed run and later tier progression.
