What Patch 2.1.2 Added to March of the Goblins
Diablo 4's Season 7 mid-season patch introduced a reputation system built around the March of the Goblins event. Six distinct goblin types appeared across Sanctuary between March 4 and March 11, 2025. After the event window closed, all six variants remained in the game at reduced spawn rates, so players who missed the live dates could still hunt them.
Patch 2.1.2 also added two cache types that addressed the shortage of Legendary Runes from the Runeword system introduced earlier in Season 7:
| Cache Type | Primary Reward |
|---|---|
| Collection of Undercity Tributes | Materials tied to the Kurast Undercity timed dungeon |
| Collection of Runes | Legendary Rune drops for the Runeword crafting system |
Both cache types were earnable through the event's reputation track. Unceasing variants of each unlocked at Rank 10 for repeatable farming after the top tier was reached.
The Six Goblin Types
Each goblin had a distinct loot profile. Gelatinous Syrus is the most unusual: it splits on death and showers the area with legendaries, boss summoning materials, and elixirs. The other five each feed the reputation track and trigger a named gift at the corresponding rank:
Here is the complete Season 7 goblin roster:
- Gelatinous Syrus: splits on death; drops legendaries, boss mats, elixirs
- Odious Ector: gear and crafting reagents (Rank 4 gift)
- Gilded Baron: gold (Rank 2 gift)
- Glittering Prym: gem fragments and Runes (Rank 8 gift)
- Curious Murl: Murmuring Obols (Rank 6 gift)
- Fancy Old Fedric: Rank 10 gift contains a Resplendent Spark
Resplendent Sparks are the crafting currency required to craft Diablo 4 Mythic Unique items β the highest item tier in the game β making Fedric the highest-priority kill for endgame builds.
Reputation Rank Rewards
Progress tracked at the Goblin Statue in Kyovashad across 10 ranks. Named gifts unlocked at the following milestones, with Unceasing variants opening at Rank 10 for post-cap repeatable drops:
| Rank | Gift | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Rank 2 | Baron's Gift | Gold |
| Rank 4 | Ector's Gift | Crafting materials |
| Rank 6 | Murl's Gift | Murmuring Obols |
| Rank 8 | Prym's Gift | Gem fragments and Runes |
| Rank 10 | Fedric's Gift + March of the Goblins Emblem | Resplendent Spark |
The reputation track stayed open after the live event window ended on March 11 β the six goblin types remained active at reduced spawn rates, and Rank 10 Unceasing caches could still be earned by players who came to the event late.
