Plan Around Three Different Evercold Dates
Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold releases February 23, 2027. Pre-orders open November 4, 2026, while early access is scheduled for February 19, 2027 at 1:00 a.m. PST, or 09:00 UTC. These are separate milestones: opening a pre-order next week does not open the expansion.
| Milestone | When it happens |
|---|---|
| Pre-orders open | November 4, 2026; no opening hour stated in the announcement. |
| Scheduled early access | February 19, 2027, 01:00 PST / 09:00 UTC. |
| Official release | February 23, 2027; the date announcement does not give an exact launch hour. |
Use the official release announcement when arranging time off. Early access is scheduled, so check subsequent notices before finalizing plans.

Choose Software Separately from Physical Collectibles
The official comparison separates software from the physical-only Collector’s Box, which has no game or digital bonuses.
| Product | Included purchase |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Expansion software. |
| Digital Collector’s Edition | Software plus the Valhallar Odin mount, Entreat Crystal emote and Crystal Skyltborg. |
| Collector’s Bundle | Windows or Mac Digital Collector’s Edition plus the physical Collector’s Box. |
| Collector’s Box | Physical goods only. |
These software editions require the full game and a subscription; Evercold is not a standalone replacement for a Free Trial account. Registering the expansion also grants Endwalker and Dawntrail access. Early-access play specifically requires Dawntrail registration and completion of certain quests.
Eligible software pre-orders include early access, a Wind-up Köttr minion and Halone’s Earring. Its 30% enemy-defeat EXP bonus applies to combat jobs at levels 1–100, excluding the new 101–110 journey.
Mog Station Windows/Mac pre-orders register bonuses automatically. Participating retailer purchases use a bonus code; Steam supplies it through Library → FINAL FANTASY XIV Online → Manage → CD keys. Supported console-store purchases need no bonus code.
Decide Whether Bastion or Zephyr Fits Your Role
Evercold adds Bastion, a tank, and Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS. Square Enix’s job preview describes Bastion’s skyltborg greatshield and aetherial artillery, and Zephyr’s crossbow and avian companion.

For an existing tank player, Bastion offers a new weapon fantasy within a familiar party role. Zephyr instead suits someone interested in ranged damage and a bird-assisted combat identity. Choose the role you want to learn before making assumptions about an unreleased rotation.

Both new jobs use Evolved Mode only. The preview describes Reborn Mode as building on the current battle system and Evolved Mode as emphasizing job identity. Limited jobs do not use this two-mode system. Do not assume you can select a Reborn version of either new job.
Separate Expansion Plans from Day-One Availability
The Evercold feature overview raises the level cap from 100 to 110 and takes the story to the icebound Fourth reflection. Its realmships provide the setting for new exploration; the announced cities include Fargarth and Hjartadunur.
The roadmap also introduces the eight-player Fierce raid difficulty between Normal and Savage, Seasonal Adventure Gear and Raid Reward Gear, and the Evangelion alliance raid series Ghosts of Desire. Those announcements help you identify what interests your group; they do not establish a finished gearing route or raid-release calendar.
Square Enix labels the site’s systems as in development and notes that some content will arrive through later patches. Housing changes are planned across the 8.x series. Certain broad design, battle-system, PvP, Duty Support and housing updates will also be available without buying Evercold. Check each feature’s eventual release notes rather than treating the full roadmap as a February 19 content list.
What to Do Before Pre-orders Open
Check which service account and platform you actually use, decide whether physical goods matter to you, and keep the purchase confirmation available for registration. If your goal is early-access play, review your Dawntrail access and story progress now. A cosmetic edition upgrade does not replace quest completion.
For returning players, catching up on the story is useful preparation; speculative best-in-slot shopping is a weaker starting point while systems remain in development. Keep your current play plans grounded in released content, then revisit the new jobs and equipment rules when final guides and patch notes are available.
