Unlocking the Dark Glasses Facewear in Patch 7.45
Patch 7.45 added a new facewear set called Dark Glasses, picked up alongside the patch's Variant Dungeon, The Merchant's Tale. You do not loot the shades directly. Instead you earn a currency inside the dungeon and trade it for an illustrated periodical, The Faces We Wear - Dark Glasses, which teaches the facewear when used. The exchange is handled by Trisassant, who runs the Corvosi Artifact Exchange in Old Sharlayan (X:11.9, Y:13.3). Square Enix lists the full reward table in the Patch 7.45 notes.
Earning Corvosi Brass
The part most guides skip is that The Merchant's Tale pays out two separate currencies, and the Dark Glasses periodical needs the rarer one. A standard Variant run drops Corvosi Potsherds from the treasure coffers scattered along each route. The Dark Glasses periodical does not cost Potsherds. It costs 12 Corvosi Brass, the higher-grade currency that only comes from The Merchant's Tale (Advanced).
Advanced mode asks you to clear the dungeon's bosses consecutively rather than picking a branching route, so it is a tougher, more deliberate run than the casual Variant clear. If you queue the standard version expecting to bank toward the shades, you will end up with a pile of Potsherds and no Brass. Run Advanced, hand 12 Brass to Trisassant, and the periodical is yours.
Wearing the Dark Glasses
Using the periodical unlocks Dark Glasses in your Facewear slot, the customization layer Dawntrail added in Patch 7.2. Facewear sits separate from your head gear, so the shades show on top of whatever helmet, hat, or bare-headed look you are running. The set offers several colour options selectable from the Facewear menu, which makes it flexible across a lot of glamour plates without needing a fresh unlock for each tone.
Dark Glasses is a small reward, but it is a clean one. If your Corvosi Brass is otherwise sitting unspent, the shades are an easy way to put it to work and add a bit of attitude to a character's face.
