Pilgrim's Barding: A Chocobo Cosmetic from Pilgrim's Traverse
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.35 introduced Pilgrim's Traverse, the latest deep dungeon, and tucked inside its reward pool is the Pilgrim's Barding — a chocobo cosmetic that leans fully into the dungeon's absurd, festival-mascot aesthetic. Complete with jester-style feet and button eyes, it is one of the more eccentric additions to the chocobo wardrobe in recent memory.
The barding is obtained from loot sacks found as you progress through the dungeon's floors. Unlike most loot, sacks from Pilgrim's Traverse must be taken to Tyr Marn in Il Mheg (X: 30, Y: 6) for appraisal — you cannot open them directly. The Pilgrim's Barding can appear from both of the tiered sack types:
- Sack of Gilded Light — available from floor 31 and above. The Pilgrim's Barding is among the possible appraisal results from this tier.
- Sack of Platinum Light — begins appearing from floor 71 and above. Contains rarer results and has a wider pool of exclusive cosmetics.
The barding is a random drop from appraisal rather than a guaranteed reward, so the number of runs it takes varies. Players who want to collect it without the grind can clear Pilgrim's Traverse with a boost and reach the higher-floor sack tiers faster.

- Market Tradable: Unlike some Pilgrim's Traverse exclusives (such as the Pilgrim's Traverse Framer's Kit), the barding can be listed on the Market Board, giving players who prefer to skip the dungeon another path to the cosmetic.
