What Is A Bloodline Ascendancy in Path of Exile?

A Bloodline Ascendancy allows you to spend those 8 points in a new way. For example, instead of spending all 8 points in your Deadeye tree, you can spend 6 points in Deadeye and the remaining 2 points in the Animist (Farrul) Bloodline tree, creating a powerful hybrid.

What Is The Difference Between A Bloodline and Regular Ascendancy?

A Regular Ascendancy (like Deadeye, Slayer, Occultist) is your main class choice, tied to the Labyrinth. It provides a full tree of powerful passives.
A Bloodline Ascendancy is an optional, secondary tree that you can add to your build. Its passives are often more niche but offer unique mechanics that are otherwise impossible to get (like "+1 Ring Slot" from the King in the Mists). You must first unlock the Bloodline tree by killing its corresponding boss before you can allocate any points into it.

Can I Have More Than One Bloodline Ascendancy?

No. You can only have one Regular Ascendancy and one Bloodline Ascendancy active at a time. For example, you cannot be both an Animist and a Lich. You must choose which of the 10 Bloodline trees you want to mix with your main class.

Can I Respec My Bloodline Ascendancy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can respec Bloodline Ascendancy points the same way you respec your regular Ascendancy points: by using 5 Orbs of Regret (or 5 respec points from quests) per point at an Altar in the Labyrinth. If you respec all points out of one Bloodline, you can then allocate points into a different Bloodline tree (assuming you have unlocked it by killing its boss).
