Wowhead's October 2023 Planner Launch
Wowhead launched its Diablo 4 Build Planner on October 16, 2023, immediately before Season of Blood. Jezartroz reported the release in Wowhead's original announcement. The tool belongs to Wowhead; this page documents that launch and its Season 2 features.
The distinction matters if you have opened an old saved build. Its seasonal selections can explain what a player intended at the time, but they do not establish what your character can equip in the current game.
What the Launch Announcement Supported
The release described gear and affix selection alongside skills and Paragon planning. It also documented copy-and-paste integration with Wowhead's existing Skill Tree and Paragon calculators. For sharing, the reported workflow used the Link button in the upper-right corner to generate a build URL.
Its Season 2 feature was a Pact requirement calculation based on selected Vampiric Powers. That was a way to reconcile chosen powers with their activation costs. It did not prove the planner automatically chose the strongest build, or that an exported setup had been played successfully.
Why the Pact Totals Mattered
Blizzard's Season of Blood overview defined three Pact types: Ferocity, Divinity and Eternity. Pacts on armor supplied the requirements for equipped Vampiric Powers. They were activation resources, rather than three independent bonuses that automatically increased damage.
Read an old plan in this order: which powers were selected, which Pact types each required, and whether the armor supplied those types. A total that looked sufficient could still be wrong if it contained the wrong mix. Replacing a piece of armor could therefore alter which powers remained active even when the replacement looked better by its ordinary affixes.
This explains the historical feature's purpose without turning Pact counts into a current gearing instruction. Season 2 began October 17, 2023. Its original seasonal system is the context of this announcement.
Original Class Links and Later Changes
The launch linked five Wowhead planners: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue and Sorcerer. These identify the original destinations; this archive does not certify their current controls or feature coverage.
Blizzard's March 5, 2024 Patch 1.3.3 notes later returned selected, modified Vampiric Powers as Legendary Aspects. An Aspect carrying a familiar name does not mean the Season 2 Pact Armor requirement returned with it.
For a build you intend to play now, use the separate community-build evaluation guide. This article preserves the original release's scope, so its old seasonal tab is understood in the right version.
