Diablo 4's first season, Season of the Malignant, ended in October 2023 when Season 2 launched. The Season of the Malignant Battle Pass was the largest component leaving the game when Season 1 ended. Both the free track and the Premium Battle Pass offered cosmetics, emotes, titles, and Platinum for future purchases, including the Artisan's Armor set and the Awakened Coldiron Armor Sets. Up to 90 tiers were available depending on the Battle Pass version owned. The fastest way to progress through tiers was defeating monsters in Nightmare Dungeons.
The Season 1 Season Journey gave players a structured set of goals for the inaugural season. Completing all objectives before the season ended unlocked the limited-time titles "Wrathful" and "Heart." Players who finished every Season Journey objective earned the exclusive "Cormond's Friend" title, which did not carry forward to Season 2 and offered creative combinations with other title components.
For players short on time near the end of Season 1, the Seasonal Questline provided a faster path to exclusive rewards. Completing it unlocked the "Malignant" and "Purifier" titles, both specific to Season 1 and unavailable after the season ended.
