Champion’s Demise: Read the Farming Advice in Context
Champion’s Demise is in the Dry Steppes, in the Untamed Scarps area near Jirandai. During Diablo 4’s 2023 launch era, players farmed its opening area repeatedly for experience. That farm belongs to the old World Tier and level-100 progression system; it is not a verified fastest route for the current game.
If you want to understand the original route or finish the dungeon, the distinction matters: killing packs in its branches and leaving early is different from completing its objectives. For a new character today, start with our current Diablo 4 leveling guide, which covers the level-70 system and campaign choices.
Where to Find It and What Completion Involves
Use the Dry Steppes map and find Jirandai, then look northeast toward Champion’s Demise. Do not search Kehjistan or rely on a long cross-map walk from Kyovashad. Jason Rodriguez’s June 2023 dungeon walkthrough documents the location and original objective sequence.
- Recover three Stone Carvings: explore the branching opening area and bring each carving back to its pedestal.
- Defeat the two Cairn Defilers: these elites follow the carving stage.
- Reach the final arena and defeat the Khazra Abomination: the original completion reward included the Aspect of the Umbral.
That is a launch-version completion reference. The interior is not a reliable fixed-coordinate route, so follow your instance’s objectives rather than treating a southwest-only path as universally correct. Check the current dungeon and Codex interface for the reward state on your character.
What the Old Partial-Clear Farm Was Trying to Do
The original strategy prioritized opening-area monster packs, then left before the carving-and-boss sequence was finished. Groups split across the branches to reduce time spent traveling through already-cleared space. It was a proposal about experience per time spent, not a way to receive every completion reward without doing the objectives.
| Your reason for entering | What to do with the old advice |
|---|---|
| Finish the dungeon or an objective that requires completion | Follow the objective tracker through the final boss. An opening-area clear is not completion. |
| Understand the 2023 XP farm | Read the branch-clearing idea as historical. Its original rewards and reset behavior do not establish current results. |
| Level a character in the current game | Choose activities around the present campaign, difficulty and progression systems; use the current leveling guide. |
Leaving early can sacrifice the very reward that brought you to a dungeon. Decide whether you need completion or only monster kills before following an old farming loop.
How Patches Changed the Farming Context
Blizzard repeatedly changed elite spawns shortly after launch. The official June 2023 Hotfix 9 notice for version 1.0.2 explains that dungeon elite density was being standardized. It does not certify a particular Champion’s Demise XP rate.
Build, character level, patch, difficulty, loot handling and time spent resetting all affect the experience earned in a farming session. Compare routes under the same conditions and count the whole loop, including travel and inventory stops.
Check the current reset behavior before building a farming loop around leaving a dungeon. A successful reload is not proof that the instance, its objectives or a completion reward has reset.
