Season 3’s Launch Advice Belongs to January 2024
Season of the Construct began January 23, 2024. The leveling rankings promoted at launch were preliminary judgments made before players had spent time with patch 1.3.0. They should not be treated as a current class ranking or as WowCarry’s measured leveling results.

Five Changes Worth Checking in an Old Build
These examples come from the January 23, 2024 patch 1.3.0 section of Blizzard’s official patch archive. A changed skill is a reason to inspect a build, not proof of its place in a speed ranking.
| Class | Documented launch change | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Barbarian | Charge base damage increased by 900%; Power Charge gained a boss cooldown reduction. | Whether the proposed damage loop actually used Charge, rather than assuming every Barbarian build received the same benefit. |
| Druid | Enhanced Rabies maximum damage bonus increased from 30% to 60%. | The specific Rabies upgrade and the rest of the build’s damage plan. |
| Necromancer | Base Corpse Explosion damage increased; Blighted Corpse Explosion damage decreased. | Which version the guide selected. A buff headline did not describe both variants. |
| Rogue | Penetrating Shot upgrades were reworked around critical chance and damage per enemy hit. | Skill upgrades, pack positioning and the dated item setup. |
| Sorcerer | Lightning Spear critical strikes applied Vulnerable for 3 seconds. | How the build produced and used Vulnerable, rather than adding the skill without understanding its role. |
Starting Gear and Finished Gear Answer Different Questions
A leveling setup needs a working damage loop before its final equipment arrives. When reading an old guide, identify its required item, what works before that item drops, and when the guide expects you to switch. A build presented with a completed Unique setup cannot establish how its first levels played.
For example, the patch introduced Starfall Coronet, which changed Meteor into a charge-based skill. That item’s version of Meteor should not be confused with the behavior available simply by allocating Meteor on a new character.
The Seasonal Companion Was Another Assumption
Blizzard’s Season of the Construct overview describes the Seneschal Companion and its Governing and Tuning Stones. If a build explanation relies on those effects, retain that seasonal condition when interpreting it. A class-only demonstration and a developed companion setup are different comparisons.
For a character being leveled now, use the separately maintained Diablo IV leveling guide. For historical build research, keep the patch date, equipment dependency and seasonal assumptions together.
