The Party-Progression Tip Was a Season 2 Launch Report

In October 2023, a report described seasonal quest progression using a party leader’s completed Season Journey chapter. It was an observed Season of Blood behavior, not a permanent account-wide skip feature.

silec’s October 19, 2023 article on Wowhead said a party member could progress a chapter-gated seasonal quest when the leader had completed the required chapter. Other quest tasks still needed to be finished.

The Screenshot Shows a Specific Chapter 2 Requirement

The image accompanying the report displays A Witness in the Dust with the objective Complete Chapter 2 of the Season Journey. It shows Bear Tribe Refuge and World Tier II in that historical quest state.

The location and interface identify the original example. They should not be read as a current route to seasonal content, or as evidence that every later seasonal quest shares this requirement.

What the October 19 Report Described

The reported sequence was:

  1. Group with someone who had already completed the relevant Season Journey chapter.
  2. Make that player the party leader, so the session used their world state.
  3. Finish the quest’s other tasks. The report said progression could continue even while the chapter objective remained displayed.

This described a quest advancing under another player’s world state. It did not establish that the joining character had completed every Season Journey objective or earned every chapter reward.

Blizzard Later Fixed a Chapter 3 Completion Issue

The November 7, 2023 Patch 1.2.2 notes fixed an issue allowing Battle of Fear and Faith to be completed without finishing Chapter 3 of the Season Journey.

That is a specific documented correction. It should not be stretched into proof that every aspect of the October party report was fixed at the same time, or into a guarantee that the earlier method works in later versions.

Keep the Three Types of Progress Separate

When interpreting an old quest report, identify what actually advanced:

Progress typeWhat to distinguish
Main campaignThe base game’s story progression and its campaign-skip option are separate from a seasonal chapter gate.
Seasonal questlineAn individual story quest can contain several objectives, including a Season Journey requirement.
Season JourneyIts chapter objectives and rewards are separate from the visible state of a particular story quest.

For a character that still shows a chapter requirement, check the character’s own Season Journey and the quest’s remaining objectives. Joining a progressed leader is not sufficient evidence that those individual requirements are complete.

The dated Patch 1.2.2 reference puts the Chapter 3 fix alongside the rest of that update. Use it to understand the historical change, rather than treating a launch-era workaround as a current progression shortcut.
