Blizzard Fixed the Combo Point Cap Bug in Patch 1.3.0
Yes: Tibault’s Will increasing the Rogue’s Combo Point cap was fixed on January 23, 2024, with Patch 1.3.0. The question of whether that Season 2 interaction would survive into Season 3 has an explicit answer in Blizzard’s patch history.
“Fixed an issue where Tibault’s Will increased the cap for combo points.”
That entry appears under Rogue bug fixes in the official Patch 1.3.0 notes. It identifies a specific cap interaction; it does not say the item itself was removed.
How the Season 2 Interaction Worked
Jezartroz’s December 23, 2023 explanation described two item effects working together:
- Tibault’s Will raised the wrong resource cap. Its flat Maximum Resource affix affected Combo Points as well as Energy, allowing the selected Rogue specialization to exceed its intended three-point cap.
- Core attacks consumed the enlarged pool. The extra points continued increasing their associated bonuses. The report used Rapid Fire as an example: points affected both its damage and arrows fired.
- Condemnation helped fill that enlarged pool. Its proc filled the available Combo Points instead of supplying only three, amplifying the interaction with the pants.
The report cited sixteen or more points as an observed example. That was a description of the bugged setup, rather than a normal Combo Point allowance shared by every Rogue.
What This Means When Reading an Old Build
A Season 2 damage demonstration built around the extra cap depended on that item interaction. Copying its item names into a later character does not reproduce the same resource behavior.
The relevant distinction is the patch and mechanism, not whether an old guide called the character powerful. A clip alone also does not establish a universal boss kill time, dungeon clear time or class ranking.
