A Hybrid Rogue from Season of Blood
Flurry Rapid Fire was a Season 2 hybrid: Flurry handled nearby crowds, while Rapid Fire attacked priority targets at range. Its Abattoir of Zir version also relied on an unintended Tibault’s Will interaction. This is a historical build overview, rather than a setup for the live season.
Blizzard’s BlizzCon 2023 overview scheduled the original Abattoir of Zir for December 5, 2023–January 23, 2024 in the Seasonal Realm. It recommended level-100 characters; the event and its seasonal rewards were tied to Season of Blood.
What the Flurry and Rapid Fire Pairing Did
PopularTopular’s December 6, 2023 build announcement described these roles:
| Skill or system | Role in the historical setup |
|---|---|
| Flurry | Cutthroat attack for enemies close to the Rogue. |
| Rapid Fire | Marksman attack for single targets and bosses from a distance. |
| Shadow Step and Dash | Mobility: Shadow Step supplied a stun; Dash helped reposition. |
| Cold Imbuement | Chill and Freeze support. |
| Tricks of the Trade | Paragon support for combining Marksman and Cutthroat attacks. |
The AoZ variant added Smoke Grenade while keeping the familiar Combo Point cadence. Its skill lineup differed from the base build; the announcement’s base description and AoZ revision refer to separate configurations.
The practical reason for two Core skills was the division of targets: use the close-range option when surrounded and the ranged option for a target that needs focused attention. Choosing that hybrid also committed skill and equipment space to both attacks.
Why the Tibault’s Will Damage Does Not Carry Forward
The announcement identified Tibault’s Will as the bugged Unique: its Maximum Resource interaction raised the Rogue’s Combo Point cap beyond three. It paired that interaction with Condemnation.
Blizzard explicitly fixed Tibault’s Will increasing the Combo Point cap in Patch 1.3.0, January 23, 2024. A Season 2 demonstration using extra Combo Points therefore cannot establish the damage of a later character following the same item names.
The Dungeon Rules Behind the Build
Blizzard’s original AoZ instructions required World Tier IV and completion of the Season Journey chapters. Players crafted a Bloodforged Sigil at the Occultist to open the Visceral Channel in Ked Bardu, then had ten minutes to defeat enough enemies and the final Bloodseekers.

For current bow-based choices, use the separate Season 15 Rapid Fire and Penetrating Shot comparison. Match its season and complete gear plan rather than combining an old AoZ rotation with a modern skill tree.
