How to Play a Skyborne in WoW Forever

Skyborne access is included with the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, and Warcraft Forever Collection. The race starts on Zephras Isle and chooses a faction at character creation. Horde Windshapers can become Shaman; Alliance High Order Skyborne can become Mage. Both can become Druid, Hunter, Rogue, or Warrior.

Choose faction before choosing a racial bonus. It determines which friends you can group with and which of the faction-specific classes you can select. An appealing movement ability is less valuable than being able to play the character you want with your regular group.

Key Takeaways

  • Normal Forever access and Skyborne race access are separate entitlements.
  • The announced Skyborne starting experience covers levels 1–12 on Zephras Isle.
  • Horde and Alliance Skyborne have different class and active-racial options.
  • Neither faction’s Skyborne class list includes Paladin, Priest, or Warlock.
  • Walk on Air is a downward glide, not a flying mount system.
  • Standard-Definition Skyborne characters and Druid forms are announced for early 2027, rather than promised for launch.

Access follows Blizzard’s upgrade terms; class choices follow the official Skyborne introduction. The later visual timing comes from the Skyborne visual update notice.

Horde or Alliance: Class Choices

Alliance · High OrderDruid, Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Warrior

Faction is selected during creation, rather than treated as a later story reward you can postpone until after meeting friends. Confirm the shared ruleset too. Two Skyborne characters are not automatically compatible for a group simply because they share a race.

If you want a Priest, Paladin, or Warlock, choose another race from the official class matrix. Buying a Skyborne pack does not make those combinations available. For a group that needs a healer, discuss an actual healing build rather than assuming any Skyborne class can cover the role.

Skyborne Racials: October 26–27 Beta Update

Both faction versions share Walk on Air, a ten-second downward glide, plus Wind Blessed and Elemental Insight. Blizzard’s October 26 beta update sets the Haste bonus to 2%, superseding the older introduction. Elemental Insight is listed in that introduction as 5% additional damage to Elementals; it is not a bonus against every enemy.

Windshapers: Skysight and Charged

Skysight grants 15% increased movement speed for 15 seconds. Using it at an elemental convergence also grants Charged for one hour. While Charged, the movement-speed bonus of Skysight rises to 30%.

High Order: Read Leyline and Attuned

Read Leyline increases Health and Mana regeneration by 50% for 15 seconds. Using it at a Ley Line also grants Attuned for one hour. While Attuned, the racial’s regeneration bonus rises to 100%. Read Leyline cannot be used while Innervate is active; Innervate overrides its regeneration effect.

The October 27 clarification confirms that Charged and Attuned survive death but are removed when entering a raid. Their one-hour duration does not make them continuous movement or regeneration bonuses for an hour: they enhance the corresponding 15-second racial effect. These are beta values and may change before release.

Movement and regeneration solve different problems. Choose a faction and class that fit your group before comparing these percentages; a larger number attached to a different effect does not establish a stronger character.

Does Walk on Air mean Skyborne can fly?

No. Blizzard describes a downward glide, while Forever’s world design excludes flying mounts. Treat it as a movement tool with a specific duration. Do not plan a route that requires sustained flight or assume it makes every drop safe without checking how the ability works in the current build.

What to Expect on Zephras Isle

Zephras Isle introduces the Skyborne’s situation and faction perspectives across the announced 1–12 starting experience. The story begins with a crisis involving missing wind spirits and a civilization divided over its future. It is a new starting journey, rather than simply a new appearance placed in an old starting village.

Use the opening levels to learn your class and movement tools before optimizing travel. Check the quest log, read ability tooltips, and experiment somewhere safe. If you intend to level with friends on other races, agree on a meeting point after your starting experiences instead of assuming they share the same opening quests.

The published level range is a description of the experience. It is not a promise that every character leaves at exactly the same experience total, nor evidence for an exact fastest quest order. This guide does not claim a personally tested island route.

Appearance, Druid Forms, and the SD Update

Skyborne customization includes faces, skin tones, hairstyles, ears, eyes, feathers, tattoos, and other body-type-specific choices. The official introduction also describes barber shops as a later way to change appearance for an in-game cost. Take time to inspect the character from several angles before completing creation.

Blizzard has separately discussed revising High-Definition Skyborne Druid forms and developing Standard-Definition Skyborne characters and Druid forms for early 2027. This is a material distinction if matching the original-era model style is central to your choice. Do not buy access on the assumption that every announced future visual option is present at November launch.

For Druid players, inspect the forms as well as the humanoid character. Much of your playtime may use a form, so a customization choice you love in the creation screen is only one part of the character’s visual identity.

Before You Create Your Skyborne

Settle these details together with your group. They prevent the most expensive kind of launch mistake: finishing a character you cannot use as intended.

  • The intended WoW account has the qualifying Skyborne entitlement.
  • My friends and I have agreed on faction, ruleset, and region.
  • My chosen class is available for that faction’s Skyborne.
  • I am happy with the current appearance and understand the SD update is later.
  • I have a full two-part name and acceptable alternatives.

Prepare your early character reservation if your upgrade qualifies, and Compare the available class playstyles before choosing solely for a racial ability.

FAQ

Is Skyborne included with a normal subscription?

Normal Forever play is included with subscription or game time, but the Skyborne race is a listed benefit of qualifying optional upgrades.

Can Alliance Skyborne be Shaman?

The announced matrix gives Shaman to Horde Windshapers and Mage to Alliance High Order Skyborne.

Can Skyborne be Paladins or Priests?

Those classes are not in either announced Skyborne class list. Druid, Hunter, Rogue, and Warrior are shared; Mage and Shaman depend on faction.

Where do Skyborne start?

Zephras Isle, an announced level 1–12 starting experience.

When are SD Skyborne models coming?

Blizzard’s visual update notice places Standard-Definition Skyborne characters and Druid forms in early 2027. That is a development window, not an exact release date.

Last reviewed October 28, 2026. Racial values follow Blizzard’s October 26 beta tuning and October 27 clarification, which supersede the older introduction. Class choices, entitlements and visual-development timing retain their separate official sources. No personally tested island route or final live racial values are claimed.
