The October 10 Datamine and October 11 Developer Notes

Patch 10.2 PTR build 51685 included Devastation buffs, Demon Hunter tuning and several class-set adjustments. Squishei’s datamining report was published on October 10, 2023. Linxy’s October 11 developer update, archived by Blue Tracker, explained the changes being tested that week.

This reference keeps those dates visible. Tooltip differences and the following day’s written notes are related evidence, but they do not always describe an identical field or establish the final live value.

Demon Hunter: Damage Bonuses, Cooldowns and Tick Cadence

Demon Hunter entryChange in this testing period
Havoc — InertiaDamage bonus: 20% → 18%.
Havoc — Chaotic DispositionDuplicated Chaos damage: 21% → 17%.
Vengeance — Fel DevastationCooldown: 60 → 40 seconds.
Vengeance — Fiery Brand and Burning AliveDamage ticks and spread intervals: 2 → 1 second. Fiery Brand retained the same total damage over its duration in the developer notes.

A shorter tick interval is different from an increase to total damage. For Fiery Brand, the developer note explicitly kept the total unchanged while making the ticks more frequent. Burning Alive’s faster spread was a separate change.

The Burning Hatred Numbers Differ Between Sources

The datamined Burning Hatred tooltip changed its additional Fury from 30 to 24 over six seconds. Its Immolation Aura entry showed a talented total changing from 50 to 44. Those pairs should be read as old → new, not as 3,024 Fury or one combined value.

The October 11 written note instead described Burning Hatred’s additional generation as 40, down from 50. That wording differs from the datamined tooltip. Keep each number with its source and date rather than combining them into a single confirmed release rule.

Devastation and Monk: Separate Spell Buffs from Gear Changes

The developer notes raised Devastation’s overall spell and ability damage by 3% and separately increased Disintegrate by 15%. Disintegrate was the blue channeled spell in the report; its spell coefficient was not a blanket percentage for every Evoker ability.

Windwalker’s baseline changes included Rising Sun Kick +10%, Fists of Fury +5% with an additional primary-target adjustment, and Whirling Dragon Punch +10%. At the same time, power moved away from the older raid set:

Set contextChange to distinguish from baseline class tuning
Balance — Benevolent Embersage’s GuidanceTwo-piece Wrath/Starfire bonus: 60% → 100%. Four-piece Eclipse increase: 3% → 2% per application, cap 15% → 10%.
Mistweaver — Mystic Heron’s DisciplineFour-piece Chi Harmony healing storage: 15% → 20%.
Windwalker — earlier Aberrus setRising Sun Kick’s two-piece bonus: 10% → 5%. Fists of Fury’s four-piece primary-target bonus: 30% → 20%.
Windwalker — new Amirdrassil four-pieceAdded 4% damage to Fists of Fury, Rising Sun Kick, Strike of the Windlord and Whirling Dragon Punch.
Shadow — Blessings of Lunar CommunionTwo-piece extra Shadow Word: Death effectiveness: 20% → 15%. Four-piece Shadow Crash bonus: 100% → 50% per stack.
Restoration Shaman — Vision of the Greatwolf OutcastFour-piece Riptide healing bonus: 15% → 20%.

That combination matters when comparing logs or an old character’s gear. A weaker Aberrus bonus and stronger baseline abilities can occur in the same update; the set change alone does not describe the whole character.

For Mistweaver, Clouded Focus fell from three stacks to two. The developer notes also increased Vivify and Invigorating Mist healing by 12%, with separate PvP limits on Bounce Back. Those are healing-specialization changes, not a Brewmaster passive.

Rogue, Shaman and Warlock Entries Had Specific Owners

  • Rogue class tree: Improved Wound Poison, Superior Mixture and Atrophic/Numbing Poisons moved within the talent tree. These were Rogue poison entries, not Balance Druid talents.
  • Assassination: Sanguine Blades consumed two Energy per tick instead of three, while its duplicated damage rose from 20% to 25%.
  • Outlaw: Sinister Strike gained 10% damage and Killing Spree gained 25%. A separate PvP note removed Killing Spree’s previous 5% PvP damage increase.
  • Subtlety: Exhilarating Execution’s healing rose from 3% to 5% of damage done; Shadowed Finishers’ additional Shadow damage rose from 25% to 30%.
  • Elemental and Enhancement Shaman: Splintered Elements had a single-target extra-Haste bug fixed. Its shared talent entry described Lava Burst for Elemental and Lightning Bolt for Enhancement.
  • Affliction Warlock: Soul-Eater’s Gluttony became a flat 15/30-second reduction to Soul Rot’s cooldown. It was not a Destruction effect or a 0.58-second reduction on each Unstable Affliction tick.

Demonology’s set also changed application conditions: Doom Brand required consuming a Demonic Core, and dispelling the Brand could now produce a Doomfiend. That is a trigger change, not evidence that every Demonbolt cast or every Warlock specialization applied the same Brand.

Reading This Build Alongside Earlier PTR Coverage

The October 3 build 51601 reference records an earlier tuning stage. For example, Shadow’s four-piece Shadow Crash bonus increased there, then decreased in this testing period. Use the report date to place the values in sequence instead of treating both snapshots as simultaneous rules.
