A Dated Preview of Dragonflight’s 10.1.5 Changes

This is a historical Dragonflight comparison. Supatease published the original class-and-PvP video on May 31, 2023, during the pre-release period. Blizzard’s launch notes updated July 11, 2023 provide the later reference for the selected values here.

The video preserves the contemporary discussion. Its publication date matters when comparing a preview tooltip with the released patch: a change being discussed in May is not automatically the value that reached launch.

Launch Values for the Four Featured Specializations

The class-tree section and PvP section describe different layers of tuning. Keep the PvP qualifier attached to the spell or modifier it actually changes:

SpecializationSelected values in the July 11, 2023 notes
Frost MageSlick Ice: 4% Frostbolt cast-time reduction per stack, maximum 5 stacks. Glacial Assault added a Comet Storm effect increasing your damage against affected enemies by 6% for 6 seconds.
Holy PaladinDenounce: 8-second prevention of critical effects; a PvP talent replacing Shield of the Righteous. The mana-regeneration penalty in PvP became 25%, previously 35%; the extra 9% healing bonus was removed.
Affliction WarlockUnstable Affliction: 25% increased damage in PvP. Rot and Decay could trigger from Shadow Bolt, Drain Soul and Oblivion, and extended Siphon Life.
Holy PriestDivine Hymn: 75% increased healing in PvP. Seraphic Crescendo was a new PvP talent modifying Divine Hymn.

Frost also had a separate PvP reduction to Glacial Assault’s damage increase. A general class-tree change should therefore not be treated as the complete arena rule by itself.

Read the Paladin Mana Change as a Smaller Penalty

A 25% reduction replacing a 35% reduction means a smaller regeneration penalty. It does not describe a fresh 25% cut to the previous regeneration rate. Likewise, removing a particular healing bonus does not establish the final strength of every heal after a wider specialization rework.

For a build comparison, record the patch, talent selection and game mode alongside the number. That makes it possible to distinguish a baseline class change, a PvP override and a talent that is not selected in the build being discussed.

Augmentation Was an Evoker Specialization

Patch 10.1.5’s new addition was Augmentation, an Evoker specialization. Its introduction expanded the existing class. It was not the introduction of a separate playable class.

Use the credited video for its pre-release commentary and the dated notes for the launch comparison. For a present-day character, begin with the live talent tree and current tuning; this archive documents a specific stage of Dragonflight’s development.
