The November 2023 Preview Added Named Cosmetic Items
Shadowsbane and Venombane were the two Dreadlord’s Regalia variants identified in the 10.2.5 PTR. Jaydaa’s November 16, 2023 report documented the cosmetic item entries after the earlier armor-model discovery. At that stage, acquisition was still unknown.
The report’s question about a possible Reclaiming Gilneas connection was speculation. It did not announce a campaign reward, a quest prerequisite or a January launch-day unlock. The later confirmed source was the Dreadlord’s Regalia shop pack.
The Two PTR Model Palettes
These original model plates show the same silhouette from several angles: horned headgear, pointed shoulders and a separate wings back piece. The rear views are useful when comparing the wings with the shoulder geometry.
These are model previews from the 2023 report. They show appearances rather than a character earning the set, and they do not establish a flight ability or a Demon Hunter class requirement.
All Nine Slots in the PTR Item List
Each item name used the prefix Dreadlord’s Shadowsbane or Dreadlord’s Venombane, followed by the corresponding ending below. For example, the head entries were Dreadlord’s Shadowsbane Helm and Dreadlord’s Venombane Helm.

The wings occupied the back slot. The table records the November PTR inventory, including Sabatons; it is not a promise that a later promotional contents list would enumerate the same nine entries.
What the Later Release Confirmed
Blizzard’s March 1, 2024 pack announcement confirmed two cosmetic color variants in one shop pack. It required a World of Warcraft subscription or game time and excluded WoW Classic games. Those conditions came from the released offer, rather than an inferred Gilneas connection.
There are two useful documentation differences to keep in mind:
- Spelling: the PTR item list used Shadowsbane, while Blizzard’s English promotional and shop text uses Shadowbane. The two spellings in these sources do not establish an extra third color variant.
- Contents: the later promotional list names eight components per variant, including wings, and does not name Sabatons. The PTR list includes the feet entry. A datamined item’s existence alone does not prove a particular current purchase includes it.
If you are comparing the set for your character, inspect the actual ensemble preview and the official pack listing for its current terms. Use the price and availability shown for your own region when making a purchase decision.
