Dream Guardians: What Patch 10.2 Introduced
Dragonflight Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream centred on the Dream Wardens renown faction, tied to the new Emerald Dream outdoor zone. The Dream Wardens were composed of Keepers, dryads, druids, and the green dragonflight, and players earned renown through world events, daily quests, and seasonal activities. The patch also opened Dragonflight Season 3.
Battleground Blitz: Weekly PvP Brawl
Patch 10.2 introduced Battleground Blitz as a weekly Brawl, placing solo players into 8v8 Battleground matches without requiring a premade group. The format ran at a faster pace than standard Battlegrounds and served as Blizzard's first step toward eventual solo queue rated Battlegrounds. Healer-DPS duos could also queue together.
The Emerald Dream and Fyrakk's Threat
The Emerald Dream served as Patch 10.2's new outdoor zone, built around the threat posed by Fyrakk the Blazing. The Druids of the Flame sought to corrupt and burn Amirdrassil, the world tree at the heart of the zone, so Fyrakk could absorb its power. Players worked through world quests and outdoor events to push back the invasion before the raid's climax.
Dragonflight Season 3
Season 3 launched alongside Patch 10.2 and refreshed the competitive reward structure across Mythic Keystone dungeons and PvP. New seasonal gear sets, titles, and mounts became available as players competed in a refreshed Mythic+ dungeon pool and updated PvP ladders. Players who wanted to push Season 3 content could browse WowCarry's Mythic+ carry options.
Great Vault: New Reward Sources Added
Heroic dungeons, Mythic+0 runs, and Timewalking dungeons were added as sources for unlocking Great Vault slots in Patch 10.2. This expanded players' weekly options and reduced dependence on Mythic+ key runs as the sole vault unlock path.
Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope
The patch's raid, Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope, sent players through nine encounters culminating in a showdown with Fyrakk the Blazing. The legendary strength axe Fyr'alath the Dreamrender dropped exclusively from Fyrakk on Heroic and Mythic difficulty. Players who needed help with the instance could book an Amirdrassil raid carry through WowCarry. The raid remained the Season 3 progression benchmark through the rest of Dragonflight.
