Single-Point Refunds Introduced in 10.2
Right-click an invested talent point to refund it while keeping dependent talents visible. Dragonflight Patch 10.2 changed the editor so a small adjustment no longer automatically cleared a large section of the tree.
Blizzard’s Guardians of the Dream notes explain the essential limit: disconnected talents are marked in red and must be reconnected to make the build valid. The feature preserved your editing work; it did not remove the tree’s connection rules.
Choose the Refund Action You Need

Use the first action for a small change. Use the second when you deliberately want to rebuild the dependent section.
What the Red Nodes Mean
A point below a removed connection can remain drawn in the editor while its path is invalid. The warning is the part that needs attention before the build is valid again.
The original Warrior example shows the tooltip message “No active links. Reconnect or unlearn this talent.” Restore the required path, or refund the dependent selection and spend the point elsewhere.
A Small-Change Workflow
- Open the talent tree you want to edit and identify the invested point to replace.
- Right-click that point without holding Shift.
- Spend the freed point on the intended alternative.
- Review any red connection warnings and repair the affected path before confirming the build.
Archimtiros’s September 9, 2023 PTR demonstration showed why this reduced repeated clicking: a Warrior swap from Bitter Immunity to Storm Bolt no longer required clearing and rebuilding the dependent talents first. The final patch notes retained the single-point and branch-refund behaviors.
