Azure Somnowl Comes from Feather of Friends
To unlock the Azure Somnowl Druid flight form, complete The Answers You’ve Earned on a Druid, use the reward Feather of Friends, then select the appearance at a barbershop. The questline begins with Cenarius at the Central Encampment in Dragonflight’s Emerald Dream.
This pale blue owl appearance was introduced in Patch 10.2. It is a Druid customization, not a mount for every class, and its quest reward does not require killing Fyrakk.
Find the Quest in the Emerald Dream
Look for The Q’onzu Query from Cenarius near 51, 62 at the Central Encampment. Use the Emerald Dream zone map, not the interior of the Amirdrassil raid or another version of the World Tree. The chain sends you toward Q’onzu’s nest in Whorlwing Basin.
The quest database and player reports distinguish this side story from the initial campaign meeting with the loa. If Cenarius offers nothing, continue the Emerald Dream campaign: multiple reports identify the Ice and Fire chapter and Tactical Withdrawal as the point after which the quest appeared. Those are reported progression checks, not a claim that every missing-NPC problem has the same cause.
Follow the Five Quests to the Feather
The Warcraft Secrets collection guide documents this order. Follow your active quest’s objective marker when moving between Cenarius, Dreamkin and Q’onzu.
- The Q’onzu Query
- Q’onzu’s Qualification
- Q’onzu’s Perception
- Q’onzu’s Distraction
- The Answers You’ve Earned
At the final hand-in, check the Druid-specific Feather of Friends reward. The story can continue afterward with Sky Mother’s Ire and Aviana’s quests, but those later chapters are not extra requirements for this feather.
Use the Feather Before Visiting the Barbershop
Right-click the feather in your inventory to learn the customization. At a barbershop, open your Druid form customization choices, choose the Azure Somnowl flight appearance and confirm the change. Merely finishing the quest or leaving the unused feather in a bag does not apply it.
The learned form is available across your Druids; check the barbershop collection on an alt before repeating the storyline. If the appearance seems absent, first confirm the reward was earned on a Druid and actually used. A character’s ability to fly in its current location is a separate issue from collecting the appearance.
Azure, Slumbering and Blazing Are Different Unlocks
These three names are easy to confuse. In particular, a Heroic Fyrakk kill does not award the fiery mount-linked form.
| Appearance | Unlock source |
|---|---|
| Azure Somnowl | Feather of Friends from The Answers You’ve Earned. |
| Slumbering Somnowl | Mark of the Slumbering Somnowl, made through the separate sleeping-owl feather collection process. |
| Blazing Somnowl / Anu’relos appearance | Feather of the Blazing Somnowl, obtained after learning Reins of Anu’relos, Flame’s Guidance. The mount is a Mythic Fyrakk reward. |
Blizzard’s Amirdrassil reward overview explicitly assigns Anu’relos to Mythic difficulty. Choose the quest chain for Azure rather than pursuing a raid reward with a different appearance.
