The Azure Somnowl Druid Flight Form
Patch 10.2 "Guardians of the Dream" (Dragonflight, November 2023) introduced three new Somnowl variants as Druid flight form customizations, available through the Barbershop. The Azure Somnowl was the questline reward, unlocked by completing a short chain tied to Q'onzu, the Loa of Change, in the Emerald Dream.
Unlike the other two Somnowl forms, the Azure Somnowl required no raid kill or rare drop — any Druid who completed the questline on one character gained the form account-wide.
The Feather of Friends and Q'onzu Questline
To unlock the Azure Somnowl, Druids earned the Feather of Friends item by completing "The Answers You've Earned," the final quest in a short chain that started with "The Q'onzu Query" from Cenarius in Amirdrassil.
Q'onzu's loyal followers in the Emerald Dream were known as Dreamkin, affectionately called the "Friends of Q'onzu." The Feather of Friends item name was a direct tribute to them. After earning it, players visited the Barbershop on any Druid character to activate the Azure Somnowl flight form.
📌 Account-wide unlock: The questline required completion on a Druid, but once the Feather of Friends was claimed, the Azure Somnowl became available for all Druids on the account with no per-character repeat required.
Other Patch 10.2 Somnowl Druid Flight Forms
Two additional Somnowl forms were introduced alongside the Azure Somnowl in Patch 10.2, also accessible through the Barbershop:
- Anu'relos, Flame's Guidance: awarded to Druids as part of the Heroic Fyrakk kill reward from the Amirdrassil raid, making it the prestige flight form of the patch.
- Slumbering Somnowl: its source was not yet publicly revealed in the initial patch notes; players discovered it through in-game exploration during the patch cycle.
All three Somnowl forms gave Druid players the most substantial flight form update since the introduction of cosmetic glyphs, and they remained available in the Barbershop through subsequent patches.
