Here is what the first full week of October 2023 actually delivered in Dragonflight.
The Darkmoon Faire rolled back into Goldshire and Mulgore for its standard week-long visit, opening on the first Sunday of the month. Players chased the carousel buffs, the profession quests, and the faire-exclusive mount and pet rewards while the carnival was in town.
Running underneath it was the Battleground Bonus Event, the weekly rotation slot that handed out extra honor for random battlegrounds. It was a quiet but reliable way to bank Conquest progress before the bigger PvP pushes later in the patch.
The brawl that week was Cooking Impossible, and despite the PvP Brawl label it was not an arena slugfest. Two teams of fifteen raced around the Valley of the Four Winds gathering ingredients and delivering them to Nomi to cook the most dishes before the timer ran out. Burning Crusade Timewalking ran from October 3 to 9 as that cycle of the Turbulent Timeways meta-event. The event scaled max-level characters down so the classic Outland dungeons stayed challenging, and the Timewalking vendor stocked the usual mounts, pets, and heirloom upgrades for Timewarped badges. Players grinding the badges that week could browse our Timewalking dungeon boosts to clear the rotation faster.
The headline new arrival was the Eastern Kingdoms Cup, which debuted on October 4 and ran for two weeks. It was a skyriding race cup, the Eastern Kingdoms leg of the Riders of Azeroth series, with time-trial courses threaded through zones like Elwynn Forest, Duskwood, and the Burning Steppes. Pilots chased Gold, Silver, and Bronze times in Normal, Advanced, and Reverse variants, earning a meta-achievement mount for clearing the full set. It was a race against the clock, not against other players, so the original framing of an "intense PvP tournament" was simply wrong.
The week also teased the next raid tier, but Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope had not opened yet. It launched several weeks later, on November 14, 2023, with Patch 10.2 and Dragonflight Season 3.
