Here is how the speculation developed, what datamined evidence supported each theory, and how WoW Remix actually played out.
When the WoW 2024 Roadmap appeared alongside Patch 10.2.7's public-test-realm cycle, the entry "Timerunning: Pandamonium" was listed without details. Two words carried most of the meaning. "Panda" pointed directly at Mists of Pandaria. "Running" was a deliberate contrast to Timewalking — suggesting faster pace, tighter timers, or elevated difficulty. The spelling "Pandamonium" rather than the standard "Pandemonium" confirmed the panda wordplay was intentional.
At the time, dataminers found updated loot entries for Siege of Orgrimmar, which had not received a Timewalking version despite Firelands (added in Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.2.5), Black Temple (Legion 7.2.5), and Ulduar (Legion 7.3.5) all having one. A Siege of Orgrimmar Timewalking raid was the simplest and most evidence-supported reading of the event name — call it the "horses, not zebras" interpretation.
Three Timewalking raids had been added before Pandamonium was announced. The gap between them was growing:
By early 2024, nearly five years had passed since a new Timewalking raid. Siege of Orgrimmar was one of the most iconic raids in WoW history and the only tier-level raid from MoP still without a Timewalking version. The datamined loot updates added weight to the argument that SoO TW was finally coming.

What launched on May 16, 2024 was something else entirely: WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, a standalone event mode where players created new "Timerunner" characters starting at level 10, progressed through all of Pandaria's content at an accelerated pace, and collected Bronze currency to upgrade a unique artifact cloak called the Cloak of Infinite Potential.
Timerunners were confined to Pandaria during the event, could not use the Auction House or professions, and could join existing guilds on any Dragonflight realm of the player's choice. The event ran until August 19, 2024, at which point all Timerunner characters were automatically converted to standard retail characters and made available in the character selection screen.
