Warband Currency Transfer in The War Within - Accepted Currencies

Warband currency transfer in The War Within moved legacy currencies between alts. Learn which transferred at 0% and which had a 17-24% sender tax.

How Warband Currency Transfer Worked

The War Within introduced Warband currency transfer as part of its Warband system (a set of account-wide features that let players share progress across all characters). To transfer a currency, players logged in as the receiving character and pulled from another character in the Currency tab (C). A campfire icon marked which currencies were available for Warband transfer.

This was a Warband-only feature: transfers moved currencies between a player's own alternate characters, not between different players in a guild.

Which Currencies Were Transferable

At The War Within prepatch (patch 11.0.1), these currencies became available for Warband transfer. Most moved at full value. Shadowlands crafting materials and Battle for Azeroth War Resources carried a sender tax; the sending character spent more than the receiving character received.

Why Some Currencies Carry a Sender Tax

The sender tax on Shadowlands crafting materials and Battle for Azeroth War Resources reflected Blizzard's intent to allow sharing while keeping a moderate cost for high-value currency moves. Currencies used for cosmetics, pets, and account-wide purchases transferred at full value since the spending destination was Warband-wide by design. Currencies that had driven per-character power gains carried the tax as a friction mechanism. Players building their mount collection can browse WoW mount carries for options spanning all expansions.

No Guild Bank Involvement

The Warband transfer system operated through the Currency tab alone and had no connection to the Guild Bank. Players could not send currencies to guildmates using this feature; it worked exclusively between a player's own characters on the same Battle.net account.
