The Liberation of Undermine launched on March 4, 2025 as the Season 2 raid for The War Within expansion (Patch 11.1, Undermine(d)). Set beneath the streets of Undermine, the instance featured eight bosses: Vexie and the Geargrinders, Cauldron of Carnage, Rik Reverb, Stix Bunkjunker, Sprocketmonger Lockenstock, The One-Armed Bandit, Mug'Zee, Heads of Security, and Chrome King Gallywix as the final encounter. Notably, Gallywix was excluded from all PTR difficulty testing — players did not preview the final boss before launch.
Before the raid launched, Blizzard ran a multi-week public test across January and February 2025. Character power was scaled on entry, so any character could participate regardless of gear level. The schedule below covers the three primary testing windows Blizzard announced at the start of the PTR cycle. Additional Mythic sessions ran on January 23rd, January 30th, and February 5th; a Normal difficulty and Raid Finder weekend was also open January 17th–20th for all bosses except Gallywix.

Players entered the Liberation of Undermine test zone by speaking to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade V, stationed in Dornogal, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind. Blizzard scaled character levels and item levels to meet each encounter's requirements automatically on entry. Testing windows were subject to change or cancellation due to unforeseen issues — standard for PTR cycles.
