The Last Hurrah: Season 4's Weekly Quest for Sparks
Dragonflight Season 4 introduced the Spark of Awakening, a profession crafting reagent used to upgrade crafted gear to higher item levels. Unlike Seasons 1 through 3, which tied sparks to the newest faction's reputation track, Season 4 had no new faction. The acquisition method shifted to a weekly quest called Last Hurrah, offered by Therazal, Dragon Isles Emissary at the Valdrakken fountain.
The Last Hurrah came in three zone variants, each covering a different part of the Dragonflight content map: one for the Dragon Isles zones, one covering Zaralek Caverns and Time Rifts, and one for the Emerald Dream. Completing any single variant each week awarded a full Spark of Awakening, skipping the two-part acquisition process that defined previous seasons.
How Season 4 Differed from Prior Seasons
In Season 3, earning a Spark of Dreams required the Dream Wardens reputation track and the "A Worthy Ally: Dream Wardens" quest, which rewarded only a Splintered Spark of Dreams — a half-shard that required combining two to make the full reagent. Season 4 changed this to a single weekly completion for a complete Spark of Awakening, increasing the effective spark rate for players who had previously needed biweekly completions.
The shift also reflected Season 4's broader design as a "best of Dragonflight" season, bringing back the three prior expansion raids as Awakened content rather than introducing a new tier with a new faction and reputation gate.
Splintered Sparks and the Combination Recipe
Splintered Sparks of Awakening remained available in Season 4 for players who preferred a more flexible path or needed to catch up. Two Splintered Sparks combined with 250 Flightstones at a crafting table produced one Spark of Awakening. Secondary sources for Splintered Sparks included kills on Awakened Raid bosses, completions in the Mythic+ pool, and Malicia's weekly PvP bounty.
The Awakened Raid Rotation
Season 4's primary content used an Awakened rotation: each week, one of three Dragonflight raids — Vault of the Incarnates, Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible, or Amirdrassil the Dream's Hope — became the active Awakened raid, dropping higher item levels than the original releases. The rotation gave the final Dragonflight season a structured end-game loop without the development overhead of a new raid tier.
