Follow Shandris from Valdrakken to Lunedane
The Coalition of Flames is Shandris Feathermoon’s Patch 10.1.7 story about Fyrakk’s alliance with the Druids of the Flame. Its continuing quest sequence runs from Fire Season through Raise the Alarm. This walkthrough explains the original events and their order; it does not promise a universal fix for a missing or phased NPC. Fury Incarnate released on September 5, 2023.
This is a story walkthrough of the original Dragonflight chapter and contains spoilers. The old opening breadcrumb, A Sentinel’s Summon, is obsolete. That does not establish that the whole Coalition of Flames chain was removed: Fire Season is the continuing quest reference. Current NPC phasing and prerequisites depend on your character’s campaign state. A Sentinel’s Summon was removed in Patch 10.2.0.
Quest Order for the Coalition of Flames
The original breadcrumb preceded Fire Season. Read the remaining story sequence in this order:
- Fire Season: meet Shandris for the Lunedane investigation.
- Dousing the Wards and Eyes of Fire: the paired investigation tasks.
- Through the Flames.
- Inflammatory Information.
- Raise the Alarm: bring the warning back to Valdrakken.
The recorded storyline list and original Jaydaa playthrough report provide the source sequence. A character that has already accepted Fire Season may need to continue in the Ohn’ahran Plains rather than find the same version of Shandris in the city.
A Sentinel's Summon: Where the Questline Began
The Shandris Feathermoon questline started the moment a level 70 character first zoned into Valdrakken and picked up "A Sentinel's Summon," which sent the player to meet Shandris at the base of the steps leading to the Seat of the Aspects. She had been monitoring the primalists, and she had learned of what passed between Fyrakk and Vyranoth from the green dragon Gerithus, son of Merithra, shown in the Fury Incarnate in-game cinematic. Gerithus is Ysera’s grandson; Fyrakk captured and tortured him to learn the way into the Emerald Dream.
Shandris had also picked up word of another secret meeting between Fyrakk and Vyranoth near Lunedane in the Ohn'ahran Plains. She asked for help pursuing the primalists to uncover their schemes, and the two of them set out for Lunedane to begin the investigation.
Lunedane and the Druids of the Flame
Fyrakk and Vyranoth had already arrived and were meeting at a nearby overlook. Fiery Primalist forces had blocked the way and were trying to establish a foothold in Lunedane. The player was charged with thinning those forces and destroying the wards protecting the bridge to the overlook, while avoiding an all-out battle. Shandris soon realized there was more to the attack than it first appeared: the Primalist forces were Druids of the Flame.
After disabling the wards, Shandris lamented that any Night Elves could join Fyrakk's cause, then urged the player to cross the bridge to the overlook and learn more about the plot. The crossing was a short fiery gauntlet that required collecting fire-infusing Smoldering Blossoms and sheltering in patches of protective mist.
Along the way, the pair eavesdropped on Fyrakk and Vyranoth.
They stayed hidden in nearby bushes as the two Incarnates continued.
It was here that Fyrakk revealed his real intent. He did not just plan to burn down Amirdrassil, the new World Tree. He meant to corrupt it with shadowflame and twist it into a vile crown of flame. The player was then sent to dispatch the newly corrupted Larodar, Keeper of the Flame, and to return to Valdrakken to report to the Dragon Aspects. Larodar later returned as a boss in Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope.
With the druids' portals cutting off the way back, Shandris held the line and handed over a whistle so one of her hippogryphs could ferry the player back to the city.
Return to Valdrakken
The player returned to the Seat of the Aspects to report to Captain Drine, but a sudden blizzard began to descend on Valdrakken.
The Primalist Vyranoth had come to Valdrakken, seeking an audience with Alexstrasza.
Rather than attacking, Vyranoth disavowed Fyrakk and warned Alexstrasza of his plot. Alexstrasza, in turn, asked Vyranoth to stand with the Aspects as a protector of Azeroth. Vyranoth’s warning marked her break with her brother’s plan.
How It Set Up Patch 10.2
Guardians of the Dream followed on November 7, 2023; Dragonflight Season 3 and the Amirdrassil raid opening followed the week of November 14. Those dates are separate in Blizzard’s official 10.2 notes. For the transition beyond this questline, use the Fury Incarnate-to-Amirdrassil story bridge.
