Morgan Day confirmed that no additional support specs were planned at the launch of The War Within, and that Mythic+ was not being designed to require an Augmentation Evoker. Players were also told to expect more Dragonflight story content between patch 10.2 and The War Within release. A new battleground was in development, with further details planned for the BlizzCon Deep Dive panel.
A major announcement from the interview was Warbound items — a new gear type that could be sent across all characters in a player's Warband. Currency could also be shared across characters, with a small conversion loss when switching between types. Players would craft items using the Warband reagent bank, making resource management across multiple characters more practical.
The interview also covered account-wide progression and renown, which let players share their progress and reputation levels across all Warband characters. This design aimed at reducing repetitive grinding for players who play multiple characters, allowing any character to contribute to and benefit from shared account milestones.
The Delve system was described as outdoor endgame content with an upgrade mechanism and valuable currency rewards. The team confirmed that Vault rewards from Delves would not include Mythic track gear, though the upper limit of outdoor rewards was still being tuned. Queues were explicitly ruled out — the intent was to allow players to group organically or tackle Delves solo, prioritising flexible pickup play over structured matchmaking.
When The War Within launched in August 2024, the systems previewed in this interview shipped largely as described. Warbands with Warbound gear, account-wide renown, and the Delve endgame system all went live on day one. The BlizzCon 2023 interview now serves as an early record of the design intentions that shaped the expansion before public testing began.
