The Venomous Abyss Loot Table at a Glance
The Venomous Abyss loot table in Patch 12.1 contains eight boss pools across four item-level bands, from Normal through Mythic. For routes, mechanics, and assignments, read the complete raid guide.
Key Takeaways
- The Venomous Abyss starts at item level 292 on Normal, 305 on Heroic, and 318 on Mythic.
- Mythic drops from the final two bosses are item level 344, above the ordinary Myth Mistcrest endpoint of 334.
- Season 2 class-set tokens come from bosses two through six, while the final boss has an all-class Curio for any tier slot.
- The Great Vault Raid row unlocks at two, four, and six boss kills, but each character still claims one weekly reward.
- A Nebulous Voidcore buys a random bonus roll from an eligible pool; it does not let a player select one exact item.
- Patch 12.1's eight boss pools contain 14 trinkets, four Very Rare weapons, and four Venomcursed armor pieces.
The first route decision is where each boss sits on the reward curve.
📌 Build the target list by boss and Loot Specialization before entering the raid. A long list of unusable armor in the full journal is not the same as the smaller pool a character can actually receive.
That usable pool becomes the basis for every boss-by-boss target list.
Venomous Abyss Item Levels by Boss
Adventure Guide order sets the four loot bands even though the raid's middle route branches. Normal and Heroic follow the first four ranks of their tracks. Mythic follows three ordinary ranks before the last two encounters jump to the special 344 endpoint.
Bosses two through six supply fixed tier slots, while the final boss adds the flexible Curio. The exact difficulty values remain available beside that tier route.
| # | Boss | Normal | Heroic | Mythic | Tier source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Nek'zali the Soulcoiler | 292, Champion 1/6 | 305, Hero 1/6 | 318, Myth 1/6 | None |
| 2 | Entombed Sentinels | 295, Champion 2/6 | 308, Hero 2/6 | 321, Myth 2/6 | Hands |
| 3 | The Lost Explorers | 295, Champion 2/6 | 308, Hero 2/6 | 321, Myth 2/6 | Shoulders |
| 4 | Vashnik the Malignant | 298, Champion 3/6 | 311, Hero 3/6 | 324, Myth 3/6 | Chest |
| 5 | Sszorak | 298, Champion 3/6 | 311, Hero 3/6 | 324, Myth 3/6 | Legs |
| 6 | The Twin Fangs | 298, Champion 3/6 | 311, Hero 3/6 | 324, Myth 3/6 | Helm |
| 7 | The Coiled Altar | 302, Champion 4/6 | 315, Hero 4/6 | 344, special endpoint | None |
| 8 | Ula'tek | 302, Champion 4/6 | 315, Hero 4/6 | 344, special endpoint | Any tier slot |
A Mythic item from The Coiled Altar or Ula'tek is already 344 and has no ordinary Mistcrest upgrade left. Their Normal and Heroic drops remain Champion 4/6 and Hero 4/6, so those versions still use their normal upgrade tracks.
⚠️ Several third-party tables still show +1 values for the middle boss bands and an outdated ordinary Myth cap. The live Season 2 records use 295, 298, 308, 311, 321, 324, and 334.
The complete drop register turns those bands into an item-by-item route.

✏️ Soulslither Spaulders is a real shared drop: it appears on both Nek'zali and The Coiled Altar. Keep both bosses on the route if that mail Shoulder item is the target.
With every boss pool located, the next step is separating tier access from ordinary equipment.
Tier Set Token Sources
Five bosses drop armor-class tokens for fixed slots. Ula'tek's Curio is shared by all classes and can be exchanged for the tier slot the player chooses.
| Boss | Tier slot | Cloth | Leather | Plate | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entombed Sentinels | Hands | Venomwoven Idol | Venomcured Idol | Venomcast Idol | Venomforged Idol |
| The Lost Explorers | Shoulders | Venomwoven Remnant | Venomcured Remnant | Venomcast Remnant | Venomforged Remnant |

| Ula'tek | Any tier slot | Slumbering Coil Curio for all classes | |||
Nek'zali and The Coiled Altar do not drop tier tokens. A player chasing only Hands through Helm should therefore prioritize bosses two through six, while a player filling any missing tier slot can value the Ula'tek Curio separately.
Trinkets, Very Rare Weapons, and Venomcursed Gear
The exhaustive tables contain 14 trinkets. Organizing them by boss makes the target path clearer without pretending that one item is universally strongest.
- Nek'zali: Soulcoiler Ritual Vessel.
- Entombed Sentinels: Keeper's Seething Core.
- The Lost Explorers: First Mate's Shellward and Gebbo's Bottomless Bag.
- Vashnik: Vashnik's Sanguine Rancor and Fang of Umbral Malignance.
- Sszorak: Sszorak's Ferocity and Idol of the Howling Nexus.
- The Twin Fangs: Preternatural Antivenom and Vexhul's Everflowing Gland.
- The Coiled Altar: Hex Lord's Dooming Idol and Zul'jin's Guillotine Technique.
- Ula'tek: Font of Venomous Rage and Voracious Heart of Ula'tek.
Trinket value depends on specialization, encounter profile, current tuning, and the rest of the character's gear. Sim the exact character after a hotfix instead of treating a raid-wide list as a universal ranking.
Very Rare weapons
The Coiled Altar drops Aman'muso, Warlord's Vengeance and Maze-roa, Warlord's Fury. Ula'tek drops Zatha'tek, Breath of Corruption and Jan'thrazet, the Soul Fang. All four come from the final two bosses and drop at 302 on Normal, 315 on Heroic, and 344 on Mythic.
Venomcursed armor
Ula'tek owns one Venomcursed piece for each armor class: Venomkeeper's Horrific Cowl, Gaze of the Coiled Watcher, Awoken Dreadfang Cuirass, and Chausses of Unbound Rancor. Their special secondary-stat behavior makes them simulation-sensitive; the loot table identifies the source and slot without declaring a universal winner.
Those special pools become more valuable when their weekly Vault quality and bonus-roll rules are understood correctly.
Great Vault and Nebulous Voidcore Targeting
One Raid pane appears after the second eligible boss kill; the next thresholds are four and six. The character then selects one item total from all unlocked weekly choices.
| Completed raid difficulty | Standard Vault reward | Eligible special reward |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 305, Hero 1/6 | No 344 exception |
| Heroic | 318, Myth 1/6 | No 344 exception |
| Mythic | 334, Myth 6/6 | 344 for eligible Very Rare and final-two loot |
The first Season 2 Vault did not offer a Voidcore. Beginning with the week of August 25 in North America and August 26 in Europe, a character with at least three unlocked panes can select one instead of weekly gear. For the complete row and one-pick rules, read the Season 2 Vault guide.
One Voidcore buys one Season 2 raid bonus roll after an eligible boss. The roll uses the current Loot Specialization, boss, and difficulty pool, then awards a random eligible item at Great Vault-equivalent quality. Winning an item through this system removes it from that per-difficulty bonus pool until every eligible item in the pool has been obtained.
⚠️ A Voidcore narrows the pool; it does not choose the result. Gear acquired from direct raid loot or the Great Vault should not be assumed to disappear from the Voidcore pool unless the live interface shows that exclusion.
That distinction changes whether a broad reclear or one specific boss is the efficient weekly plan.
How to Build a Weekly Loot Route
- List exact items. Record the boss, slot, and usable Loot Specialization for every real upgrade.
- Separate tier from ordinary gear. Bosses two through six own fixed tier slots; Ula'tek owns the flexible Curio.
- Weight the final two correctly. Their Mythic items are already 344, so an earlier boss can only win priority when its effect or slot matters more.
- Plan the Raid row. Two, four, or six kills unlock choices, but extra panes do not create extra weekly claims.
- Check the Voidcore pool. Compare the random eligible pool with the guaranteed Vault item already offered before taking currency.
- Re-sim after upgrades. A trinket, weapon, or Venomcursed piece can change the value of the next target.
Players whose remaining upgrades span several encounters can compare full-gear raid options before setting a weekly route.
With the route fixed, the remaining questions are about boundaries rather than missing item names.
FAQ
What item level does Venomous Abyss loot drop at?
Normal drops item level 292, 295, 298, or 302 according to boss band. Heroic drops 305, 308, 311, or 315. Mythic drops 318, 321, or 324 for bosses one through six, then jumps to 344 for The Coiled Altar and Ula'tek. The 344 items use a special endpoint above standard Myth 6/6, not the next ordinary rank after 324.
Which Venomous Abyss bosses drop tier tokens?
Entombed Sentinels drops Hands, The Lost Explorers drops Shoulders, Vashnik the Malignant drops Chest, Sszorak drops Legs, and The Twin Fangs drops Helm. Ula'tek drops the Slumbering Coil Curio, which all classes can roll on and exchange for a tier slot of their choice. Nek'zali and The Coiled Altar do not drop tier tokens.
Which Venomous Abyss bosses drop item level 344 gear?
On Mythic difficulty, every eligible direct equipment drop from The Coiled Altar and Ula'tek is item level 344. That includes their armor, weapons, trinkets, and eligible special items, not only the four weapons tagged Very Rare. Eligible rewards from those bosses can also retain the 344 exception in the Great Vault. Earlier Mythic bosses use the ordinary 318, 321, and 324 direct-drop bands.
How many trinkets drop in The Venomous Abyss?
Fourteen trinkets drop across the eight bosses. Nek'zali and Entombed Sentinels have one each; every boss from The Lost Explorers through Ula'tek has two. Soulcoiler Ritual Vessel and Preternatural Antivenom are healer trinkets, while First Mate's Shellward is a tank trinket. Other trinkets need specialization-specific evaluation rather than a role assignment inferred from their names.
How do Venomous Abyss kills unlock Great Vault choices?
Two current-season raid boss kills unlock the first Raid choice, four unlock the second, and six unlock the third. The reward quality depends on the qualifying difficulties, while eligible boss pools follow the raid's Adventure Guide progression. Unlocking three Raid choices does not award three items: a character still chooses one total reward from all weekly Vault panes.
Can a Nebulous Voidcore target one exact raid item?
No. A Voidcore targets an eligible boss, difficulty, and Loot Specialization pool, then produces a random item from that pool. An item won through this system is removed from its per-difficulty bonus pool until every eligible item in that pool has been obtained, which improves later odds. The first selectable Season 2 Voidcore begins the week of August 25 NA or August 26 EU and requires at least three unlocked Vault panes.
Should I use a Voidcore or take my Great Vault item?
Take the guaranteed Vault item when it is a strong immediate upgrade or when progression needs the power now. Consider a Voidcore when the displayed boss pool is small, contains several meaningful targets, and the guaranteed choice is weak. The roll is still random, so compare the whole eligible pool rather than one dream item. For Mythic targets, remember that standard Vault quality is 334 while eligible final-two rewards can reach 344.
