Confronting the Uber Malphas and Acquiring the Rare Tuning Stones in Diablo 4 Season 3

Season 3 presents a thrilling new challenge for players of the popular game, with the introduction of the formidable villain, Malphas. In this blog post, written by WowCarry, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to access the Vault of the Loom, battle the Echo of Malphas, and increase your chances of obtaining the coveted Unique Tuning Stones and powerful loot.

Accessing the Vault of the Loom

Before embarking on your journey to the Vault of the Loom, you will need to collect 7s and 250. These resources are required to gain entry to the Vault where the Echo of Malphas awaits. 7s can be obtained from Vaults, Arcane Tremors, and the new Construct monster family. On the other hand, 250 can be looted from Heralds of Malphas, which can be summoned at various Braziers in the Arcane Tremors open world area.

Once you have acquired the necessary summoning materials, make your way to the Gatehall located in Kehjistan. From there, you can access the entrance to the Vault of the Loom.

Inside the Vault of the Loom

Once inside the Vault, visit the Statue of Zoltun Kulle where you can exchange resources for Zoltun's Warding. Each stack of Zoltun's Warding will grant you protection against traps and hazards within the Vault. It is vital to obtain this buff before proceeding further. It is important to note that you will lose a stack of Zoltun's Warding each time you are hit by a trap or hazard. This depletion also applies during the boss fight against the Echo of Malphas. To gain entry to the Vault, you must also offer the Ingneous Cores at the Corrupted Altar. Failure to do so will result in the disabling of the Statue of Zoltun Kulle. Wait for everyone in your group to acquire Zoltun's Warding before proceeding.

Within the Vault, you will encounter 4 minor Vaults before reaching the boss room. Each minor Vault contains 2 Wardwoven Chests that require 1 stack of Zoltun's Warding each to be opened. After defeating the Echo of Malphas, 2 additional Wardwoven Chests will become accessible, requiring 10 and 4 stacks of Zoltun's Warding respectively. Despite the investment, it is highly recommended to open these chests, as the rewards often outweigh the cost of clearing the Vault.

To progress to the boss room, it is necessary to clear all four minor Vaults and utilize the keystones obtained at the end of each Vault. These keystones will grant you access to the boss room. If you are in a group, dividing tasks and acquiring the keystones simultaneously will expedite the process. Although this approach means sacrificing the 2 Wardwoven Chests in the other minor Vaults, any Legendaries and Uniques that drop will be sent directly to your stash.

Echo of Malphas Boss Fight

Once you have obtained all the keystones and reached the boss room, prepare to face the Echo of Malphas in an intense battle. During this encounter, it is important to be mindful of the traps, as they will gradually diminish your Zoltun's Warding stacks. To maintain an advantage, destroy the Conduits that activate various hazards throughout the fight. Be cautious not to leave more than 2 Conduits active, as this can easily overwhelm you with traps. Focus on dealing damage to Malphas whenever you have no immediate Conduit-related tasks to complete. If you are in a group, assigning one person to handle the Conduits while the rest focus on attacking the boss can greatly improve your chances of success.

Unique Tuning Stones - Evernight and Genesis

The Echo of Malphas has a 0.5% chance of dropping one of the highly sought-after Unique Tuning Stones. Additionally, each of the 2 Wardwoven Chests following the defeat of the boss have a 3% chance to contain one of these stones. To unlock both Wardwoven Chests, you must possess a total of 14 stacks of Zoltun's Warding.

For those eager to maximize their power, the most potent combination of Seneschal Stones currently available is Flash of Adrenaline + Tactical Support + Duration Support. This combination grants players a permanent 50% damage multiplier buff.
