Stepping into the Dark Worlds of Diablo 4

Let's take a look at what Diablo 4 has in store for you! The moment you initiate Diablo 4, you find yourself in a cave, a necessary introduction, following which you find your way to Kyovashad, the heart of the Fractured Peaks. As you wave goodbye to Lorath and venture into the Cathedral of Light, you are also introduced to a few intricate game mechanisms. With three quests at hand, you are ready to step out and explore Sanctuary.

Unfolding the Acts of Diablo 4

Each quest in Diablo 4 guides you to a unique region, launching a whole sequence of quests that climax in an act finale. The Fractured Peaks is the setting of Act I, Act II takes you to the marshy expanses of Scosglen, and Act III is primarily set in the aptly named Dry Steppes. The completion of the three act's questlines unlocks the quest for Act IV, which paves the way for your first mount.

  • Gameplay Recommendations

Though the game allows flexibility in the order of play, there are level recommendations for each act. Starting Act I after the prologue is straightforward, as you would be at a suitable level (around five or six). However, for Act II, a level of 10 is recommended, and for Act III, a level of 15. These are just guidelines, and you can choose to ignore them, but be prepared for more formidable enemies and extended battles. The numeric order of play is thus the most efficient: Act I, Act II, and then Act III. Deviating from this order could lead to minor leveling challenges, but these are easily resolved as you level up. Do remember that you would need to return to Act I before Act IV is accessible.

If you're eager to attempt playing the acts out of sequence, we suggest playing on World Tier 1 (Adventurer), which will help to level the playing field between you and the quests. And don't worry about spoilers - the first three acts are self-contained narratives within Sanctuary and only converge in Act IV.
