Diablo 4 - Fate of 'Season of the Malignant' Season 1 Characters on October 17th

October 12, 2023 3 minutes

Blizzard has recently announced that the Season of the Malignant in Diablo 4 will come to an end on the same day as the start of the Season of Blood, which is October 17th. This brings up an interesting question - what will happen to all of our Season 1 characters once the new Season begins? In a blog post, Blizzard has provided some details regarding this transition and how players can ensure their progress is not lost.

Character Transfers and Gear Selection

According to the developers at Blizzard, all characters created during the Season of the Malignant will be transferred to the Eternal Realm on October 17th. However, there is a twist. In order to accommodate the combining of storage, players will have the opportunity to select specific pieces of gear they want to bring with them into the Eternal Realm.

Upon the end of the Season of the Malignant, all Seasonal characters will be automatically transferred to the Eternal Realm. All items present in the character's Season of the Malignant Stash will be placed into a new Withdraw Only Stash tab in the Eternal Realm. It is important to note that players will have the entirety of the Season of Blood to withdraw any items they wish to keep from the previous season. Any items that remain in the Withdraw Only Stash tab once Season of Blood comes to an end will be unrecoverable.

To clarify, players can freely withdraw any items from the Withdraw Only Stash tab until Season of Blood concludes, which is approximately 3 months after it begins on October 17th. After Season 2 ends, any unclaimed items will be lost forever. This means that players must choose their gear selection wisely and prioritize their most valuable items.

Season 2 Content Breakdown

  • New Endgame Boss Loot Tables

With the start of the Season of Blood, players can expect exciting new content, including updated loot tables for endgame bosses. These loot tables have been revamped to ensure a dynamic and rewarding experience for players. By defeating powerful bosses in the game, players will have a chance to obtain powerful and rare items that can aid them in their journey through the Eternal Realm.

  • Additional Features and Improvements

Aside from the updated loot tables, Blizzard has also implemented several additional features and improvements for Season 2. These include bug fixes, balance adjustments, quality of life enhancements, and more. The developers have been working hard to address player feedback and provide an even better gameplay experience.

Conclusion

The upcoming transition from the Season of the Malignant to the Season of Blood brings both excitement and challenge for Diablo 4 players. By carefully selecting their gear for transfer and taking advantage of the improved loot tables in Season 2, players can ensure a successful progression in the Eternal Realm. However, it is crucial to make timely decisions and not leave any valuable items behind in the Withdraw Only Stash tab. Are you ready to embrace the new challenges and conquer the upcoming Season? Find out on October 17th in Diablo 4!
