Diablo 4 Leaderboards Day 1 Recap - Kickoff Evening of the Gauntlet

March 06, 2024 3 minutes

The highly anticipated release of The Gauntlet in Diablo 4 has finally arrived, bringing with it the much-requested Leaderboards feature. Since its launch, the Top 10 rankings for each class have been in constant flux as players strive to achieve higher and higher scores. Although the Hall of the Ancients is currently empty due to the recently launched Day 1, we can examine a snapshot of tonight's progress to get a sense of what each class brings to the table.

Diablo 4 Gauntlet Build Tier List

Editor's Note: The data presented in this article was collected from a snapshot of builds and leaderboards at approximately 6:30pm EST on opening night. Please note that the data has since changed. Nonetheless, our focus remains on this particular instance to showcase the variety of builds that have emerged.

Additionally, some players have chosen to keep their profiles private on the leaderboards, posing a challenge in presenting the data accurately. We are actively working on finding the best way to address this issue and welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!

Day 1 Standard - Highest Known Build Scores vs Highest Class Score

As expected, the Charge Barbarian build variants have dominated the class charts, leaving little room for other builds. On the other hand, the Ball Lightning Sorcerer and Arc Lash Sorcerer have been engaged in a fierce battle for dominance on the leaderboard, with both achieving extraordinarily high scores. The Rogue class offers the most build variety but tends to score lower overall, highlighting a need for slight class balancing. Necromancers and Druids, as anticipated, round out the pack with builds such as Lightning Storm Druid and Bone Spear Necromancer.

Day 1 Standard and Hardcore - Top 100 Average Scores by Class

Interestingly, the Hardcore playerbase, which is smaller in comparison, has demonstrated distinct scoring patterns compared to Standard Seasonal players. While Sorcerers have been dominating the Standard leaderboard, they fall behind Barbarians in terms of score when it comes to the Hardcore mode. The other classes follow a similar score progression in both modes. Notably, the Rogue class has consistently scored the lowest across both modes, prompting speculation about how Blizzard might adjust class tuning based on these scores. In the World of Warcraft, DPS rankings have been utilized for fine-tuning, so it remains to be seen how the Leaderboards will impact future meta shifts in upcoming Seasons.

  • How Was This Data Calculated?

While we are unable to access every build in the Top 10 due to privacy settings, we can still gain insights into the favored classes for this type of content. As anticipated, Barbarians and Sorcerers have proven to be the frontrunners, which is accurately reflected in their scores. However, a key aspect of the Leaderboards, the ability to examine each player's build, currently presents challenges. It is common for the top-ranked player to have private settings, rendering their build inaccessible to others. Thus, our rankings compare known builds from profiles that are not set to private with the number one score on each specific leaderboard. To perform a comprehensive analysis of build data, Blizzard would need to implement changes that allow for build visibility while ensuring player privacy if they choose to do so.

The scores in both the Standard and Hardcore charts represent the average of the Top 100 players from each class leaderboard. With the exception of Hardcore Rogue, which currently lacks 100 players, a full pool of 100 players was utilized for the data analysis.

Final Thoughts

We hope you've enjoyed this overview of The Gauntlet and the launch of Leaderboards in Diablo 4. The competitive nature of the Leaderboards presents players with a new level of challenge and fosters a sense of camaraderie within the community. As the season progresses and more players join the competition, we anticipate even greater shifts in the rankings. We look forward to seeing how the class tuning evolves based on these scores and how it will influence future metas. Share your thoughts and experiences with us in the comments below!
