Unexplored Areas Uncovered in Diablo 4 Steam Edition

October 21, 2023 3 minutes

Two previously undisclosed areas have been discovered within the localization strings of the popular role-playing game, Diablo 4. This revelation was made by dedicated enthusiasts who scoured the depths of the game files available on SteamDB, a comprehensive website that harnesses the power of Steam's application programming interface (API) to provide detailed information about various games, including Diablo 4.

Out of the numerous zones listed on SteamDB, there are only two regions that are not currently featured in the published version of Diablo 4. These two zones are known as Teganze Plains and Torajan Jungles. Interestingly, this is not the first instance in which these zones have been brought to light. They were initially discovered in the earliest public beta builds of Diablo 4.

The Mysterious Zones

The note of these zones in the localization strings indicates that they serve various purposes, such as showing the location of players within Sanctuary on the Battle.net friend list. However, the true significance of these zones and their absence from the current iteration of Diablo 4 remains open to speculation.

  • Torajan Jungles

The Torajan Jungles, also known as Toraja, occupy the southern region of Sanctuary, to the southwest of Kurast. These sprawling jungles extend throughout the southern expanse of Sanctuary, reaching the borders of Kehjistan. It is a land teeming with exotic and treacherous flora and fauna unique to this specific part of Sanctuary. The countless civilizations that once thrived within these jungles have long since been lost to the annals of time. Presently, the Torajan Jungles are inhabited by various tribes, including the Umbaru (also known as Witch Doctors), Opaya, and the fierce Tusked Lords who belong to the Druid class.

Following the destruction of the Worldstone, denizens from the Burning Hells have been spotted infiltrating the previously unspoiled jungles of Toraja. This represents a dire threat to the fragile balance within the region.

It is worth noting that references to the Tusked Lords were found in the flavor text of a cosmetic item for the Druid class in Diablo 4. This suggests that the Tusked Lords play a significant role within the Torajan Jungles. These powerful Druids possess incredible physical strength and don artifacts made from the tusks of their animal ancestors.

  • Teganze Plains

Teganze Plains are a sub-region of the Torajan Jungles and are divided into upper and lower regions. These plains witnessed a fierce battle during the Mage Clan Wars. In their struggle to expel the Vizjerei mage clan, the Umbaru inhabiting the upper region transformed into the Khazra, a tribe of goatmen. This transformation allowed them to achieve victory but came at a cost, as they became forever bound to the demon Zagraal. In a subsequent conflict, the Witch Doctors of the lower Teganze region successfully defeated Zagraal and the Khazra, ensuring the survival of their tribe.

Currently, only the lower Teganze region remains occupied by the Umbaru tribe, making it the ancestral home of the esteemed Witch Doctors.

Future Possibilities

The existence of these unreleased zones raises several intriguing questions for avid Diablo fans. One cannot help but speculate whether these zones were abandoned during the early stages of Diablo 4's development or if they are reserved for an upcoming expansion. The possibilities are endless, and the anticipation for what lies ahead in the world of Diablo 4 continues to grow.

We would love to hear your thoughts on the matter! Would you like to explore the hidden depths of the Witch Doctors' domain in Diablo 4?
