December 18, 2023 3 minutes

Blizzard Entertainment has recently announced their plans for the Arena World Championship (AWC) and Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) in 2024. This comes as exciting news for World of Warcraft fans, as the upcoming year is set to be a monumental one for the game, with WoW celebrating its 20th anniversary. With a full year of scheduled programming, including three seasons of competition and additional bonus events, the AWC and MDI are set to provide players with thrilling esports action and opportunities to earn in-game rewards.

Open Registration on Raider.IO

In order to provide open registration for anyone to participate in the upcoming competitions, Blizzard Entertainment has partnered with Raider.IO. This means that players can now sign up on Raider.IO to compete in the AWC and MDI. With a staggering $2 million (USD) prize pool on the line, as well as new in-game rewards to earn, there's no doubt that the competitions will be highly competitive and rewarding.

Registration is now open for the first events, which will be broadcast live on Twitch and YouTube. Additionally, competitors will have the option to stream their own perspectives, allowing fans to follow their favorite teams and players throughout the competitions.

Arena World Championship

The Arena World Championship (AWC) has adopted a Seasonal Cup model, which provides players with more chances to compete and create unforgettable moments. In 2024, the AWC will feature a combined Season of Cups, concluding the Dragonflight storyline. To culminate Dragonflight, a combined season of AWC will take place, spanning in-game Seasons 3 and 4.

After the first two AWC Cups in Season 3, teams will have the opportunity to compete in a new 'Mid-Season Clash' featuring qualified teams from Europe and North America. This special event will add a $100,000 USD bounty to the previous Seasonal model. Following the Mid-Season Clash, AWC Cups will resume in Season 4, with AWC Points from all four Cups contributing to the AWC Dragonflight Finals.

The AWC Dragonflight Finals will determine the Champions of Dragonflight, with a total prize pool of $300,000 USD up for grabs. To decide the final spots in the Dragonflight Finals, there will also be an associated AWC Gauntlet event for each set of AWC Cups in Season 3 and Season 4. Participants in the Dragonflight Season 3 Cups can now sign up on Raider.IO to earn the exclusive "Dreaming Banner of the Aspects" in-game banner.

Mythic Dungeon International

The Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) will continue to expand in 2024, with three total seasons planned. To conclude the Dragonflight storyline, MDI events will take place during Seasons 3 and 4. Following this, an entire season of MDI matches will celebrate the launch of The War Within expansion.

A total of over $900,000 USD in prizing will be available between MDI and The Great Push (TGP) programs throughout the year. The Great Push, which had a successful run in 2023, will return in Season 4 with its own $260,000 USD prize pool.

Registration for MDI Season 3 is now open, and players can sign up on Raider.IO. The top 16 teams from the Time Trials will be split into two groups, with each group having a $30,000 USD prize pool and four qualifying spots to the MDI Global Finals. The MDI Global Finals will feature an eight-team bracket and a $200,000 USD prize pool.

Looking Ahead

The War Within, the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft, will be a major focus for both the AWC and MDI competitions. In Season 1 of the new expansion, a combined $800,000 USD will be distributed between the two programs. As we gear up for this exciting new chapter in World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment is eager to kick off the 2024 competitions. Players can sign up on Raider.IO and stay up to date with the latest news by subscribing to the Twitch and YouTube channels of WoW Esports. Good luck to all participants, and have fun!
