The WoW: What's Next panel has just begun at BlizzCon 2023, and we're liveblogging all of the most interesting highlights! Today, WowCarry is here to bring you all the exciting updates from the panel.

The War Within: A Journey into the Depths of Azeroth

During the cinematic reveal, we witnessed the aftermath of Anduin Wrynn's struggles in Shadowlands. Alongside him, Thrall spoke of strange visions emanating from the depths of the world itself. These visions have ignited curiosity among heroes, compelling them to embark on a treacherous expedition into the subterranean expanse of Azeroth. However, they are not the only ones drawn to the darkness. Sinister forces also seek to exploit this newfound opportunity.

The ancient black empire, once imprisoned, has fallen. The old gods are no more, but their legacy lingers, coursing through the veins of the world. Xal'atath, freed from her blade prison, now poses a new threat: the Nerubians. These formidable creatures, recruited by Xal'atath and guided by the Harbinger, present an empire of strength and power. Unlike the undead under Arthas' command, the Nerubians have evolved into a fearsome and ambitious civilization.

Anduin Wrynn, Thrall, Magni Bronzebeard, and Alleria Windrunner will play integral roles in the upcoming storyline of the War Within. Alleria, in particular, holds a unique rivalry with Xal'atath, setting the stage for an epic conflict.

An Exploration to Khaz'Algar: A Continent Shrouded in Mystery

The radiant song beckons us to the unexplored subcontinent of Khaz'Algar. Our journey will bring us face to face with the Earthen, a society of titanforged beings who have been isolated for centuries. Through this isolation, they have developed distinct customs and culture. The Earthen are divided into three factions: the Oathsworn, city-dwelling dwarves who embrace the titan's directives; the Unbound, rural dwarves who have deviated from the titan's path; and the Machine Speakers, industrious dwarves dedicated to titan machinery.

As a token of gratitude for our assistance, the Earthen have agreed to become a new neutral playable race, available to both the Alliance and the Horde. Players will have access to an array of exciting customizations, including beards for all body types, unique rocky skin patterns, and decorative gems, making this a truly immersive experience.

Another fascinating culture within Khaz'Algar is the Arathi, devout worshippers of holy fire. Trapped within the depths of Khaz'Algar, they possess Paladin-like abilities and are known for their industrious nature. They have even developed airships powered by holy flame. However, their land is constantly under threat from the relentless aggression of the Nerubians.

  • The Mysterious Nerubians: Ancient Survivors of the Black Empire

In the upcoming expansion, we'll have the opportunity to delve deep into the secrets of the Nerubian Empire. Xal'atath has formed a dark alliance with these cunning beings, promising them greater power through alchemical evolution. Not all Nerubians have embraced this dark destiny, though, enabling us to encounter new factions and domesticated insects within their society.

Unveiling the Zones of Khaz'Algar

  • Isle of Dorn

The surface of Khaz'Algar welcomes us to the breathtaking Isle of Dorn. This paradise features fertile soil, lush plant life, and stormy peaks. Its central city will serve as the capital, offering a mesmerizing blend of fiery bees, mead, and stunning landscapes.

  • Ringing Deeps

Beneath the surface lies the industrial haven of the Ringing Deeps. Lava-heated foundries and furnaces maintained by the Machine Speakers dominate this cavernous expanse. However, as the Earthen have dwindled, the Kobolds have seized control of the mines and even built their own city, under the leadership of the formidable Candle King!

  • Hollowfall

Deeper still, we find the Hollowfall, a vast underground realm illuminated by an enormous crystal. Here, the Arathi reside, spreading the light of hope amidst a constant struggle against the forces of the Nerubian empire. However, this crystal's light has been diminishing, casting the Arathi into darkness. They fight to maintain this fragile balance, relying on light towers to ward off the encroaching darkness and the monstrous creatures it conceals.

  • Azkahet: The Heart of the Nerubian Empire

At the deepest depths of Azeroth lies Azkahet, the heart of the Nerubian empire. Burrows house forgotten scavengers, while the Umbral Bazaar serves as a bustling trading post. The Skeins are home to the scholars and lorekeepers who delve into the mysteries of Azeroth. To navigate these treacherous depths, adventurers must adopt the guise of the local Nerubian beings, blending in for their own safety and the acquisition of valuable knowledge.
