Changes to Consumables in Unrated Battlegrounds in the Third Season

November 14, 2023 4 minutes

Hey there, gamers! WowCarry here with some exciting news from Blizzard. They have just announced some major changes to Consumables in unrated battlegrounds, set to be released tomorrow. It seems like Blizzard has been listening to player feedback and wants to spice up the flow of combat in unrated PvP environments by allowing consumable items. In the past, tight restrictions were placed on these items to minimize disruption, but with a variety of game modes now available and a narrower power disparity between players, Blizzard wants to review their philosophy on this matter.

In a hotfix set to go live tomorrow with the start of Season 3, a variety of Dragonflight consumables will be adjusted to enable their use in Unrated Battlegrounds. In addition, War Mode consumables will receive some changes to make them more practical for players to acquire in bulk. Some items will also undergo moderate tuning adjustments to ensure they are impactful without being disruptive. The most significant change is that the cooldown for War Mode items listed below will be standardized to 5 minutes, following the same cooldown shared by other combat consumables. Engineering bombs, however, will remain on a separate 5-minute cooldown.

Enabled Consumables in Unrated Battlegrounds

With this hotfix, the following items will be enabled for use in unrated battlegrounds and battleground brawls (excluding Battleground Blitz). Take note that some tooltips may include zone restrictions that are no longer applicable after this change and will be corrected in a future patch.

In addition to enabling these consumables, there will be some tuning adjustments made to the War Mode consumables for a better gameplay experience:

Adjustments to War Mode Consumables

Curious Primordial Fungus, Pest Fogger, Wild Dragon Fruit, Wild Truffle

  • Duration reduced to 12 seconds (previously 20 seconds).

    Energized Temporal Spores

  • Speed penalty reduced to 15% (previously 30%).

    Warbanner of Ire

  • Now on the Battle Standard cooldown of 10 minutes.
  • Bonus primary stat reduced to 5% (previously 10%).

    Prismatic Snail Mucus

  • Critical strike chance bonus reduced to 30% (previously 50%).

    Soothing Emerald Tea

  • Now on the Healing Potion cooldown of 5 minutes.
  • Immediate health increased to 25% (previously 20%).
  • Health over time increased to 40% (previously 15%).

    Volatile Crimson Embers

  • Damage bonus increased to 30% (previously 25%).
  • Damage taken over time reduced to 1% every 3 seconds (previously 3% every 3 seconds).
  • Duration increased to 24 seconds (previously 15 seconds).

Blizzard will also be making some changes to the way War Mode consumables function. These consumables will no longer be Unique and will no longer have charges. Instead, they will be stackable items, allowing players to carry up to 200 of each. The cost of these consumables will be reduced from 100 Bloody Tokens to 50 for a stack of 5. Additionally, Seltherex will now offer these items for 500 Honor for a stack of 5.

If you already possess some of these items when the changes take place, don't worry! You will retain the same remaining number of uses, even if your stack size doesn't visually reflect this.

Lastly, Blizzard encourages everyone to share their feedback on these changes. They will be closely monitoring player feedback to make further decisions on how to approach this sort of gameplay. So, let your voice be heard! Happy gaming!
