Defenders of the Dream Patch 10.2 Campaign Chapter 2: Embrace the Dream (Story Spoilers)
With the first Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream PTR build, the 10.2 campaign is now available for testing. As players eagerly dive into the new content, we've had the opportunity to play through Chapter 2 of the campaign, titled "Enter the Dream." In this blog post, we will provide a detailed overview of what players can expect in this exciting chapter. Please note that there will be spoilers for Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream ahead!
Chapter 2: Enter the Dream
Before we delve into the details of Chapter 2, it's important to note that there is a slight discrepancy in the campaign's numbering. As of the 10.2 PTR, Chapter 1, titled "Coalition of Flames," is actually the Shandris Feathermoon questline, which players were able to complete in Patch 10.1.7. Completing this questline is a prerequisite to starting the Patch 10.2 campaign. Once players have completed Chapter 2, they will have the option to skip Chapter 1 on future alts, thanks to Shandris's Scouting Report obtained during the quest "Call of the Dream."
The journey begins with the quest "Call of the Dream," where players will gather by the Ancient Bought in Ohn'ahran Plains. However, it's important to note that completion of the Shandris questline in Patch 10.1.7 is required to gain access to this quest. In this initial meeting, players will interact with prominent characters such as Alexstrasza, Ysera, Merithra, Vyranoth, Tyrande, Kalecgos, Khadgar, and the Khan Matra of the Maruuk Centaur.
From there, players will venture into the Emerald Dream in the quest "Emerald Welcome" and have a conversation with Merithra. During this interaction, players will be asked to watch a cutscene that is currently unavailable. Additionally, players will receive the new Dragonriding mount of this patch, the Flourishing Whimsydrake. Following this, players will embark on a dragonride through fiery patches to cleanse the Dream in the quest "Feast or Flaming."
Upon reaching Cenarius, players will be informed that Fyrakk, the antagonist, has not yet directly attacked the World Tree but poses a continuous threat. In order to defend the World Tree, players will seek the assistance of the Wild Gods in the quest "Wild Gods in Our Midst." Goldrinn readily accepts the invitation, but Q'onzu, the Loa of Change, declines, believing that she cannot prevent the Dream from changing. However, as players search for the Wild Gods, Fyrakk's forces arrive with the Druids of the Flame, prompting players to halt their advance in the quests "Burning Assault" and "The Face of Our Enemies."
Strengthening the Defense
Despite players' efforts to close druid portals in "The Cruel," the attack intensifies with the arrival of the Djaradin and Elder Igira in tow. After regrouping with Merithra and Cenarius, players are invited to visit Amirdrassil, the new World Tree, in the quest "Home in the Dream." As players accompany Merithra on their flight to Amirdrassil, she provides insight into the tree's significance:
| Merithra: | Amirdrassil! "Crown of Harmony." Grown of two realms, a window between death and life. |
| Merithra: | Its seed was gifted to Tyrande by the Winter Queen. Here in the Emerald Dream, it thrives. |
| Merithra: | But there are others who would seize its power and use it for their own ends. We cannot let them. |
| Merithra: | We of the green dragonflight and countless lost souls have pledged to keep it safe. We must be vigilant until it takes its place in the world. |
| Tyrande: | Merithra, we must speak. One of the elder dryads approaches, but she is... not herself. She is one with the flame. |
Players then proceed to deal with the threat posed by Elder Cassaphine, the dryad lost to the flame, in the quest "Lost to the Flame." Upon returning to Merithra, Fyrakk launches an attack on Amirdrassil. Players must defend the tree in "Between Fyrakk and a Hard Place." At this point, a cutscene plays, although it is not currently available for testing. From the quest text, it appears that Fyrakk approaches the tree but does not directly attack, suggesting that he is following the orders of a Druid of Flame.
With a temporary reprieve from Fyrakk, players take the opportunity to establish a Night Elf camp in Amirdrassil in the quest "Home in the Dream." This allows them to regroup and strategize on how best to dispatch the Druids of the Flame in the subsequent quest, "A Multi-Front Battle." Here, players will be joined by Vyranoth (now part of the Dream Wardens), Alexstrasza, and Wrathion as they familiarize themselves with Amirdrassil and its various facilities, including the Flight Master, Dream Wardens Renown tracker, and the Innkeeper.
Upon completion of "A Multi-Front Battle," players will have successfully concluded Chapter 2 of the 10.2 Campaign, "Enter the Dream." This achievement unlocks a range of world quests in the Emerald Dream, paving the way for even more exciting adventures to come.

Chapter 2 of the 10.2 campaign, "Enter the Dream," offers players a captivating continuation of the Guardians of the Dream storyline. As players rally together with legendary characters and face off against the forces of Fyrakk and the Druids of the Flame, the stakes are higher than ever. The introduction of Amirdrassil, the new World Tree, provides a visually stunning backdrop for players to immerse themselves in this epic questline.
