Guardians of the Dream: Unveiling a New Legendary in Patch 10.2

September 06, 2023 2 minutes

Blizzard has teased that a new Legendary is coming in Patch 10.2, Guardians of the Dream! The anticipation is building as players scramble to guess who this legendary item might be for. Although we don't have any details about how it will be obtained, we can certainly speculate on which class it might cater to.

Speculation

If we take a look back at previous Legendary Weapons in the game, we can gather some hints on what to expect. Let's go through some of the iconic ones:

  • Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker - 1H Melee Sword
  • Warglaive of Azzinoth - 1H Melee Sword
  • Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury - 2H Agility Bow
  • Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings - 1H Intellect (Healer) Weapon
  • Shadowmourne - 2H Strength Weapon
  • Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest - 2H Intellect Weapon
  • Golad, Twilight of Aspects / Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages - 1H Agility (Rogue) Daggers
  • Rae'shalare, Death's Whisper - 2H Agility Bow
  • Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy - 1H Intellect (Evoker) Weapon

Based on this list, we can see that there are a couple types of weapons that haven't been featured as Legendary items in a long time or ever:

  • 2H Strength (not since Wrath of the Lich King)
  • 2H Agility Melee (never)

If this upcoming Legendary happens to be a weapon, we speculate that it will likely fall into one of these two categories. While 2H Strength is a popular choice and it has been a while since we've seen a 2H Strength Legendary like Shadowmourne, it's worth noting that 2H Agility Melee has never had a Legendary item dedicated to it. Considering that 2H Intellect was last featured in Cataclysm, but Intellect recently received attention with the Evoker's 1H weapon, and there has only been one Strength Legendary weapon ever, the chances of the new Legendary being an Agility melee weapon seem quite plausible as well.

Guardians of the Dream Early View Conclusion

In a patch that is clearly focused on protecting the Emerald Dream, it's only fitting to consider the possibility of the upcoming Legendary being exclusive to Druids. As defenders of nature and the dream realm, Druids play a crucial role in the lore surrounding the Emerald Dream. With this in mind, it wouldn't be surprising if the Legendary item in question caters specifically to Druids.

With all the excitement and speculation that this teaser has generated, we can't wait to uncover the truth.!

Who is the new Legendary for? What abilities and powers will it bestow upon its wielder? All will be revealed in the coming days. Stay tuned!
